Five hours later, I received a call from Four saying they had successfully arrested Jeanine and her closest confidants. I assured him I had everything under control here, so he could go back to Dauntless and help.
Two days later, we were all released from our positions in Abnegation and allowed to head back to Dauntless.
"Hey, baby boy," Uriah said, grabbing my hand as we walked back into the Dauntless compound.
"Hey, babe," I said, kissing his cheek quickly. We walked in silence and headed back to our apartment. Since it's Friday, we don't have to report to work for two days.
"How have you been?" He asked, opening the door to the apartment.
"Lonely," I said, spinning to face him as he locked the front door behind him. He dropped the duffel bags he had been carrying.
His lips found mine almost instantaneously. I pulled him closer to me, deepening the kiss as quickly as possible.
"Wanna take this upstairs?" He asked. I nodded and he picked me up, carrying me to our bedroom.
A few hours later, we were laying face to face with our legs intertwined and just talking.
"Baby boy," he said, kissing me cheek gently.
"What's up, Uriah?" I asked, looking up at him.
"Alexander," he said. "Do you wanna get married?"
"If that's a marriage proposal, it's the worst one I've ever heard," I said, giggling slightly.
"No, it's not. I was just wondering. Like, do you want to marry me?" He asked.
"Someday, yes, of course babe," I said. "I love you so much, and I can't even begin to imagine having a life with anyone else."
"I love you too, Alex. I just, I, uh, I guess, I need some reassurance sometimes too," he said, blushing slightly and shying away from me.
"Well, I'm glad to reassure you anytime you need it," I said, kissing him. He pulled me closer and just held me close to him. It was a feeling I missed a lot. Being held so close to the love of my life made me feel safer than anything else.
Our comfortable silence was soon interrupted by a phone call. Uriah reached over and grabbed his cell phone, answering it quickly. I ignored what he was saying and just enjoyed listening to him talk.
"I've gotta shower than we will be down," he said.
"What's going on?" I asked as Uriah got up and headed towards the bathroom.
"Christina found a kid in need of a home. A mom, who was a transfer a year ago and had no real friends or family, died during childbirth. They need someone to take the kid and raise her," he said. "Or at least that's what it sounded like."
"Sounds good," I said.
"Are you sure you want to adopt him?" Uriah asked as he got into the shower.
"Yeah," I said, getting up and pulling on some clean clothes. "Well, I mean, I want a family, so yeah, let's go adopt this kid."
"As long as your sure you want to do this," he said.
"Of course I'm sure, Uriah," I said.
