What the hell was that!

My thoughts were so scattered.

Emotions ran wild with bipolar feelings, sadness for Jarred, glad for my new man, sad for Jarred, proud of Marcus!

The ride back to Marcus' house was fairly silent. Nobody was home and it was closing on darkness outside. We pulled in the garage and went inside to a dark and silent little home.

He spoke first.

"Sorry about your boyfriend. That was a terrible thing that happened at the beach."

"I'm so sorry to Marcus, I should have told you. I never thought anything like that would happen."

"I'm good, and I'm cool with you too. None of us planned for this to happen, least of all you and him. You're mine now Jen."

I was glad that was over...

"Thanks babe."

He led us to the fridge, a white board on the freezer had writing on it that said.

'keys are in my truck, we're headed to the pole line spot to camp. Should be set up when you finally get out, blue and red lights.'

"Well, it's sounds like he left already. Shall we leave"?

"Yes dear".

"You're going to like Tom's truck, come on"!

He pulled me back outside to an orange and black pickup. It looked fairly normal to me except for the larger tires and a wider stance.  It was boring, I said as much.

"Looks like a truck babe".

His smirk told me nothing, it was cute though..

He opened my door for me as I jumped inside. Right away I knew this truck was different.

It had a metal dash, roll cage, harnesses in the bucket seats and gauges galore. It was all lit in a soft blue, from the floor to the ceiling.  My excitement grew.

Marcus jumped in just as I got settled.

The orange truck growled as he started the motor. I spoke for the first time.

"Wow".

"It's nice right"?

We soon found ourselves on the freeway headed east again. The big truck had tuns of power and it showed. We climbed well over a hundred miles per hour in seconds.

After two dark highways and an hour later we crested a large pass on the black two lane road.

As soon as we made the summit and began to head down the small desert pass things changed, rapidly.

The entire desert was lit like Vegas, dust flew and lights flashed all around the valley below us. Both sides of the road and beyond were alive with action.

"Where are we Marcus"?

"This is the desert babe, the way out in the middle of nowhere no rules outside of camp, desert! Let's have some fun and then we'll find the boys"!

Closing in on the valley floor I could see campers. RV's and truck's, tents and quads.

Dune buggies and dirt bikes flew all around the darkness like wild animals. Headlights and glowing flags bobbed in the dusty darkness of the desert.

"It's a party out here Marcus"!

"Hell yeah, you ready to get crazy"!

"Oh my god yes"!

Just then we slowed and turned left onto a dirt road.

Campers lined both sides of our path through the dusty night. I was about to speak when the desert opened and traffic thinned. The loud truck began to pick up speed through the soft open space ahead.

"Let's put on the harnesses"!

We slowed for a second and pulled the straps to our safety belts tight. My adrenalin spiked again as I tightened down. My body shook as I spoke.

"Where we going"?

"Relax Jen. I've been out here before. I'm looking for someone to play with, like him".

He pointed at a black and gold dune buggy and I giggled as I spoke.

"A dune buggy"?

"It's a sand rail, this one I know and it can pop wheelies"!

The big engine roared as he spoke, we over took the buggy and turned right onto what looked like a dry river bed. The orange truck slid sideways and began to dig, it's suspension soaking up all but the largest holes in the soft sand. I had just remembered that little buggy we smoked when a scream came up on our right! The black and gold rail slid by us in the darkness with two front wheels off the ground! The dash read ninety miles an hour as the front end touched ground and we began to gain on them! Neck and neck we floated down the black empty river bed.

Something happened, it pushed me into my seat! A rush of power slammed me back as the orange truck took off. It felt like we were flying! 120 flashed on the speedo!! The world was blurred by dust and darkness, engines steamed from abuse!

The cab shook violently around us in pitch black as we began to slow. The buggy returned on our left side now and Marcus rolled down his window.

We slowed to a stop on the side of the dry river bank. Dust surrounded us in the dark as Marcus yelled out the window.

"Wassup Jerry! Where you camped at"?

There was a pause, I could not hear a reply.

"Perfect, I'll fallow you bro"!

The buggy took off and we pulled in behind after the dust settled a bit.

"He's camped next to the boys, we'll be there in a bit".

"That was fucking awesome"!

"Let's get some grub and we'll go back out, you can drive"!

"Really"!

"Yeah, but no nitrous oxide"!

"Is that why we won"?

"Yep, Jerry looked pissed. It's new Tom just put it in, I'm sure it will cause a stir at camp".

We pulled up to a circle of huge recreational vehicles lined up just like the old west, butt to butt. A large fire blazed in the center, a group of people all ages gathered around it's warmth and light. Children ran all around the night camp lit with glowing sticks and fire crackers. TV's lit the interior of every RV.  Small tiki torches surrounded the entire camp.

"It's like paradise babe"!

"Let's get out and go find Tom"!
