~Ending Review~
After we had paid, nothing seemed different, but I didn't know what I was expecting. "Here you go. Hope you enjoyed your meal." We were handed fortune cookies, and I saw Seto's smile get bigger. If that was even possible.
Seto handed me my fortune cookie, and started tapping his feet. I slowly opened the cookie, weary that something awful was inside, but it was just a normal cookie. Except instead of a paper, there was a ring in it.
I looked up at Seto, who was looking down at his cookie. "Seto... What's this?" He didn't look up, and I was getting nervous, thinking that this was going where I thought it was going.
"Hey, Skylar. What does this say? I can't read it." He handed to paper in his hand to me, and came around to stand next to me. I shakily opened the paper, and felt relaxed and terrified at the same moment.
'Skylar. Will you....?' Was in bold print.
~Back to actual story.~
(I also just realized something. The song, Girl Next Door, goes perfectly with Seto's POV in this story. It's literally perfection. Listen to it, and you'll understand. It's by Emblem3, btw.)
"Will you.... What? WHAT IS IT SUPPOSED TO SAY SETO? You can have the note just end like that, without it specifying!" I started breathing heavily, and Seto quickly kissed my cheek to shut me up.
My eyes started to water with the thought of him proposing. He wasn't on one knee, so that was a good sign. I mean yeah, I loved Seto enough to marry him. But we hadn't even been dating for a year! And we just finished high school.
"I know you're freaking out..." I nodded and felt him squeeze my hands. He pulled his chair over, and sat on it. "And I bet you're thinking I'm proposing..." I nodded again, and saw him bite his lip.
"It's something... Sorta like that." He saw my eyes widen, and quickly continued on. "Skylar. There is no way in hell, that I'd want to date any other girl. But I'm still a teenager. And I bet neither of us would be ready for that kind of commitment." I was losing my patience, and was just waiting for him to say it already.
"Please just say it... Please." Seto nodded, and fumbled with taking something out his pocket. By now most of the resturant was looking at us. And so help me if Seto proposed, I wasn't going to say yes. I wasn't ready for it, he said it himself.
But I can't just turn him down... He pulled a small box out his pocket, and all the color drained from my face. I can't say no. But I also can't say yes. What am I going to do!? Ugh!
His hand was shaking as he pulled a silver banned ring out, and held it out to me. "Seto. I... I won't be able to get engaged! Do you even realize how ridiculous this is? It hasn't even been a year!"
I whispered as quietly, but loud enough for him to hear. "Skylar! Just listen!" I shook my head and covered my face with my hands. Wet sticky tears were running down my face. I probably just broke his heart, and mine.
"Skylar. Do you honestly think I'd put you in that kind of situation?" I nodded and he pulled my hands off my face. "Trust me. I'm not ready for that commitment, but just take this."
The ring he handed me had a silver band, with an infinity sign across it. "A Promise Ring?" I looked up at him and he nodded. "That way. One day when we both get older, and more mature, I can actually propose properly." I squeezed my eyes shut, and cursed myself at how stupid I must have sounded.
