Later that night, right before we were to leave for church, Skylar was using rubbing alcohol on my face. "The unicorn won't come off!" She groaned and rubbed it again and I cringed.
"Not so rough, you'll scrap all the skin away." She sighed and let her hands fall to her sides. She still had the lip ring on, I had a feeling it wasn't going to be coming off for awhile. And I was completely fine with that.
"Skylar, just leave the unicorn. We can shun the non-believers." I could tell she was trying not laugh, since she was clearly agitated and stressed from the news I told her earlier.
~2 hours earlier~ (How did you time travel? Doctor, is that you!?)
I sat outside the bathroom door, waiting for Skylar to get done with her shower. She had given me her phone to hold, so I was just flipping it around in my hand.
I respected her privacy enough to not look at the things on her phone, but every once in awhile I'd turn it on and just turn it back off. Right as I heard the shower water turn off, her phone rang.
"Seto! Can you answer it? Wait, who is it?" It was an unknown number, to her at least. I knew exactly who it was. "Uh, I don't know." I lied, and less than a second later the bathroom door opened, and she came out in just a towel.
"I know when you lie, Seto." I handed it up to her, instantly getting up and pulling her against my chest. She was confused, but not for long.
"Hello?" I heard talking on the other end, but it just sounded like squeaking. "Yes, this is her. May I ask who's speaking and what your purpose is?" They talked for another minute and I was waiting the inevitable.
"Oh... O-oh my. No you can't! That's not fair to him." Her voice cracked and all her weight leaned back against me, so now she knew why I was standing there.
"You knew." She whispered to me, tears brimming at her eyes. "You said it wasn't bad!" She frowned at me and hung up the phone. "You knew and you didn't tell me! You said it wasn't bad, but it is!" I wrapped my arms around her, rubbing her hair.
I wasn't caring if she soaked my shirt, I was going to wash it anyways. "Why would they need take him away? He can come to college with me... I-I can..." She finally cracked and a quiet sobbed escaped her lips.
"My mom will help with this. I doubt they'll let Cooper go to an orphanage... He's family to us now." Skylar shook her head and readjusted her towel, which was starting to fall down.
"I'm not going to college. I'll stay here and take care of him. I-I'll go back to school another year..." "Skylar, you're going to go to college this year, because I know you won't go back later. Besides it will get your mind off me not being there."
"You not being there? What!?"
Shit. I screwed up, badly.
~Back to present time~ (Evil me taking over! Muahaha.)
"You watch too much 'Charlie The Unicorn'." She muttered and then ran a hand through her hair. "It's just too much to take in, in one day." She sighed and started to walk out of the room, when Cooper ran in.
"SETO'S MOMMY SAID I NEED TO GET DRESSED! I got to look handsome, she said!" Cooper started jumping up and down, clinging onto Skylar's arm.
"Ask Seto, buddy I'm sorry. I have to get ready also." But she didn't, I could tell she just didn't want to be alone with him. As he knew nothing of what was going on.
