Hey guys! It's Evelyn with a new book! Recently, I came up with the idea of a prompt challenge. The basic idea is that you and a friend (or enemy, or someone else) agree on a prompt. Then, both (or however many people are doing it together) publish it. There isn't a real winner, but you could do something like whoever with the most votes by ______ (due-by date) wins! Or something.

Anyway, this prompt is as follows: He received a letter which had only two words: He's alive.

I will be doing this with Rosawinterthecountry so make sure to read her entry as well! She will be posting her entry in her Attack on Titan oneshot book.

Annabeth's POV

Flashback

I sat on the floor in my bedroom. I was home from college for the summer. Early. My dad had called me three days ago with devastating news.

Flashback-seption (flashback inside of a flashback)

"Would Annabeth Chase please report to the main office? Annabeth Chase, main office. Thank you." The speaker boomed. I stood from where I was sitting and walked to the office.

"Take a seat, please. The principal will be with you shortly." The secretary informed.

I sat in the indicated chair and waited... and waited... and waited. After what seemed like hours, I heard the principal's voice, as well as a familiar male voice. I looked up from my hands and saw my father.

"Dad? What are you doing here?" I asked.

He just looked at the principal and a silent conversation passed between them.

"Honey, I'll be taking you home early. Mrs. Warnist is allowing it to happen this once." He replied.

I gave them both a confused look but walked, with my father, to my dorm to finish packing up.

----

After Dad and I had finished packing and loading my stuff into his car, I hopped into the passenger's seat.

"Dad, what's up?" I asked, impatient.

"I'll tell you when we get home." Came the cold reply.

----

"What? No? That's not possible... He-he-he.... HE JUST!" My voice flared as my emotions struggled over which one was most dominant.

"Honey, I know it's a lot to take in..." Father began.

"Percy can't be dead. He's too smart." I whispered, my voice slightly cracking.

Flashback / Flashback-seption over // Current day: a week after the devastating news of Percy's death

"Percy.." I murmured, my eyes tearing up as I looked through the photo album we had. I don't know how the pictures had gotten to me, but every so often, I would have a package in the mail. I guessed they were from the Camp, or one of the Campers. "My Seaweed Brain..." I saw a picture of him smiling widely and a discarded bucket on the edge of the photo. I smiled weakly as I remembered the time he had lured me out of the cabin then dumped a bucket of icy seawater on my head, complete with seaweed.

"ANNABEEEETHHH!!!" My brothers came charging into my room. "WE HAVE A LE-"

"Can you stop yelling?"

"Oh, sorry! We have a letter for you! It's from a 'Mrs. S. Jackson.' Do you-"

"Give me the letter!" I yanked the letter out of their hands.

I stared at the letter, dumbfounded.

"What's it say?" They asked as they crowed around me, trying to read it. "Why's it so short?"

"'He's alive.' He's alive?" I looked up from the letter I clutched in my hands. "HE'S ALIVE!"

"Who's a-ohhh... Wait, really?!?"

"Yes, really! Mrs. Jackson even sent a picture of him holding Estelle(his baby sister)! She's definitely old enough for this to be recent! HE'S ALIVE!" My voice rose with each word I spoke until I was yelling.

"Hey."

I looked up.

"Percy?"
