chapter 1

"I want to be with him."

"I know you do."

"But I can't and it hurts so bad."
Here we go again. There stood a crying man in his sister's velvet living room. Tears were streaming down from his sky blue eyes while his cheeks were swelling up with a crimson red color. His light brown hair was also messy due to him pulling at it with frustration.

"I want to be with him so fucking bad," He cries.

"I know Laurence," His sister, also known as Cadenza whispers out. She stands slowly and envelopes him into a soft hug, rubbing circles into his back as he cries helplessly in her shoulder. She pulls a strand of her lava styled hair behind her ear, her sky blue eyes darting across the room while trying to avoid crying.

"I know you want to be with him. And you know he wants to be with you too. But you can't,"

Tears continue to fly down each of their faces, sympathy and sorrow beginning to take over the room. Cadenza begins to cry with her brunette brother but I mean how could she not? Her brother was in love and was being forced to love someone else.

Suddenly the front door swings open and in comes an overprotective Aphmau. Her raven black hair swings fiercely as she storms into the living room. "What the hell happened with Laurence?" She asks, flying down onto the couch next to them, sending Laurence a sympathetic look.

Cadenza looks at Laurence as if asking for permission to tell Aphmau the story and he nods slowly. He wipes the tears away with his tan hand, only to let more fall afterwards. Cadenza slowly stands and they both send the crying brunette another sympathetic look before walking down the hallways and away into Cadenza's room.

"Is this about the incident?" Aphmau whispers and those words almost bring Cadenza to tears but she keeps it together.

"Part of it. See Laurence is struggling with four jobs to keep our family and Garroth's family working. Garroth's family is working hard too. But Laurence, he has a job at Olive Garden and his boss is the father of his girlfriend. He can't break up with her because then he would lose his job. And then all of the money he's been making will just go down to hell," Cadenza whispers.

"Well why can't he find another job to replace that one?"

"Because that's the only job where he actually knows what to do and how to do it. He loves cooking and he likes working at Olive Garden. He just doesn't like the people there. And on top of that, Olive Garden pays him a good amount! Not enough to make it through to help our families, but that's why he has four jobs. He's been trying really hard to help out since the incident. Sometimes he even blames himself." Cadenza explains.

Aphmau frowns, "So he wants to break up with his girlfriend but he can't?" She asks.

"He wants to break up with his girlfriend and be with Garroth."

Aphmau's eyes widen. "Does Garroth know?" She questions, a rose blush dusting her cheeks.

She obviously ships it.

"Yeah. They both know each other's feelings towards one another and they really want to be together but they can't because of Laurence's job and his stupid girlfriend," Cad frowns.

"Hasn't she cheated on Laurence? Can't he use that as an excuse to break it off and still have the job?"

Cadenza shakes her head with a small frown. She could feel the pain in her chest beginning to rapidly speed up and the tears in her eyes forming.

"T-The boss is going to s-stick by his daughter's s-side and he would fire L-Laurence." She begins to stutter which signals Aphmau to pull her in for a hug.

After all, if Laurence doesn't work this hard to get money for his family and Garroth's, who's gonna pay those damn hospital bills?
