Chapter 21

Keith watched Lance, Yes Keith had been an asshole to him but always in a rival manner, he didn't even know what happened, he just snapped, and he didn't even know how to react when Lance accused him of having something with Shiro, did he? I mean they were like brothers.... but it did seem like Shiro had something for him....
"Lance you're crazy" Keith said, He watched Lance, man.... he seemed broken in a way he had never seen, like he was tired, like he just didn't care anymore,
"Lance?" Keith mumbled softly as he stepped toward him, but Lance shrugged, he just walked past Keith as if he didn't know him, his sad expression turned to rock.

Once they were all gathered in the castle, Allura let the tension settle a bit before she began speaking,
"Since Shiro has.... is, probably gone, and the black lion isn't responding, we'll have to use the white Lion as a substitute" She said, a pang of sadness went through her voice,
"He can't be dead, we don't know that, for all we know he's alive" Keith muttered and glanced at her, then at Lance, and suddenly everyone seemed to shift their gaze at the White Paladin, he was standing there quietly
"Ya we can do that..." Lance muttered softly, though in reality he didn't even know if this would work, and he kinda hoped it wouldn't, because Lance didn't know how to lead, that's why he let other people do it, he already was getting thoughts about all the ways he would get the team killed,
"Lance? Lance" Allura snapped him back to reality
"Yes?" He said, straightening his back (but not his sexuality) and nodded, he didn't even know why he was nodding,
"Well that's it for now, I think you should all rest for a bit, it was a hard fight" Coran told them, giving them a small waves of dismissal with his fatherly like smile.
Lance glanced at all of them before walking out the door.
A sigh left his lips as he walked down the hall to the hangar, it felt strange to be in these halls, they looked familiar yet... so different, Lance kept walking until he reached the Hangar doors, there he walked inside, his lion sitting up alongside the others, a quick glance back and he was climbing into his lion, if he managed to find Shiro maybe he would be able to find out the truth... or maybe he would also deny it like Keith did, he shrugged, he just need to find him.
"Why this planet, of all planets why this one?" He grumbled as he walked through the snow towards the cliff where Shiro had fallen, he peered over but only saw a foggy mist, everything to eerily still. He turned around... maybe this would work... he didn't want to risk taking his lion down there, his comms wouldn't work if he got stuck and he didn't know how narrow it got farther down, he walked back towards his lion and after some scavenging he found a bundle of steel rope, this would be perfect. He pulled it out and attached it to his lions paw, dropped the rest over the edge and looked down,
"Here I come Shiro"

Why did Lance do that? Blow off his crush? That was just a stupid thing to do but at the same time he probably would've said something even stupider and then the situation would be worse. Lance glanced back to make sure Keith wasn't following him, he let out another sigh and crossed his arms that was plain stupid but whatever, this was just some school crush... he'd probably get over him soon enough.
Lance walked into his room and looked at the mini stack of paper, it was divided by sticky notes that each said what subject it was from, that was just great, this would probably take the entire day to finish if he hurried, damnit.
He sat down on his bed and pulled out a pencil and began on the work, might as well get some of it finished, he kept working and eventually he lost track of time but had finished half the stack, a knock was heard on the door and Lance got up, a sudden dizziness hit him, he half expected it to be Hunk or Pidge with a crap ton of more homework, but he looked up and saw a horrible mullet...ugh.
"You seriously need to do something about your mullet" Lance muttered and he guessed Keith was a bit surprised because he immediately brushed it back and then crossed his arms
"Look we need to talk... well I need to talk to you, its something serious" Keith mumbled, he didn't bring his eyes to look at Lance, which was strange but eventually he did, he straightened himself and then let his arms hang at his sides.
Lance raised an eyebrow, a soft scoff escaped him
"You're joking right?" Lance laughed and stopped when Keith didn't even chuckle, he glanced out into the hallway and gave a reluctant sigh,
"Fine, but you need to be quick" Lance said and watched as Keith stepped inside and Lance shut the door.
"Don't worry... I will be"

Lance kept jumping down and he'd only been climbing for a few minutes but it already felt like an eternity, probably because it was so cold and Lance wasn't used to these kinds of temperatures, a static sounded from his comm, something kept trying to make through but something on this planet was messing with his comms, he grunted and turned his comm off, he needed to concentrate otherwise he might fall... he kept climbing until he looked down, even though it was misty the ground seemed close enough... He took a deep breath, he could find Shiro and probably get everything back on track, a small smile lined his lips...
One hand
Second hand
And he was falling
Longer than he should've been if the ground had been close as he had expected...

Coran sighed
"He's still not answering" He said and Pidge muttered something before looking up,
"There's too much radio interference, I cant get a clear take on his location" they said as they moved their glasses and rubbed their eyes, they seemed hyper in a way but also tired.
"Well why would Lance go out into that storm of a world?" Matt mumbled as he fiddled with his folded staff, "would it be possible he's trying to prove something" Hunk suggested though there wasn't much evidence to support that
"Maybe he's trying to bring back Shiro" Keith said as he looked up, that also didn't have much evidence but it did seem more believable... did it?
"But that doesn't explain why he would go by himself? And how do we know he even went to save Shiro" Allura piped up and raised an eyebrow and they all slumped, that was true... hmmm why would Lance suddenly disappear?
"H....el-p" a soft voice came through the intercom and it made them freeze... was that.......
Shiro? That couldn't be... the comms were dead.... how did he even manage to get that shatttered word through? Or was it Lance? The word was so croaky and shattered that the voice was unrecognizable, they all rushed over to Pidge's table and frantically tried to catch the signal, but as quickly as it came it was gone, taken away by this storm of a planet, everyone's hearts sank,
"no one managed to catch that?" Coran muttered
"Pidge did you manage to track the location?" Hunk asked
"Maybe run a recording and a voice recognition software?" Allura asked but Pidge couldn't do anything, they weren't fast enough and now the little glimpse of hope...
Was gone, crushed, they all slumped in defeat.
Not again... please... not again...
