"You what!?" Kam asked me during English period. If anyone surveyed about what my favourite class was, 'English' would be my obvious answer. "She kissed him" Liz whispered to Kam. We were surely going to get caught by Miss Emmett for she had forbidden us to talk while writing an essay on whether or not to conduct exams in schools.

"Kissed on the cheek!" I quickly defended myself to stop Kam from giving me those overly confounded looks. "Pathetic" she stated and went back to her writing. So many years and I still didn't understand many of my friends. "Serena, if you are done with your essay would you please stand up and read it out" Ms. Emmett called out and I wasn't even halfway through my work. Oh crap I thought and picked my notebook in my hand with Howard giving me a stupidly evil grin from his seat in the front. He just knew I was so close to getting screwed.

"Ma'am I..." I began and at the same second the bell went off. 'Saved' my brain spoke to me. "Tomorrow I want all of your notebooks complete, along with today's essay" ma'am instructed and left the class.

"The bell shouldn't have gone" Howard came to my seat. "Yeah you wanted to enjoy the scene" I picked my notebook and hit his arm. "Ow!" He rubbed the layer of clothing on his upper arm. "That didn't hurt, try hitting harder next time" he laughed and went back to his place for the next class. At times I thought of the chances of all my friends being such jerks only to realise that that's the reason we became friends in the first place.

After school, we were walking towards the gates, talking about random stuff that came up in our heads. "I heard something about you and Dan" Theo suddenly brought up the topic of the dance, making everyone join. "Something about a..." Ace poked my arm. "Shut up you guys, it's not something great! I did it as a friendly gesture" I glared at Kam who was busy laughing her guts out with Lisa and Mel. I was right, I did have stupid friends who couldn't keep such things as secrets.

"But you didn't tell me this, am I not your best friend?" Theo asked making a puppy face. "Oh God, you definitely are" I laughed and ruffled his dark brown hair. That's when I saw Dan and Scarlett walk past us. Scarlett's expression was that of a hungry wild cat looking for food, mad and desperate at the same time. She was saying something and Dan was intently listening to her. He didn't even glance in our direction. I'm sure if 'Gossip' was a subject, she would top the school.

"Let's go Lisa" I said and waved a bye to everyone. "Going? Why so soon?" Theo asked. "I'm hungry" I half lied. "Do you want to come home?" I asked them.
"Later" Theo promised and waved back.

After having some vegetable stew for lunch I was ready to fall into a bed for a nap. "I know why you were quick to leave" Lisa said, stopping my thought process for a while. "Why?" I questioned her but it was more like a challenge where I was testing if she actually knew. "It didn't look good, the way you looked at Danny and Scarlett, you sort of ignored him" she told me. "I didn't ignore, he was busy talking to her" I said, avoiding her eyes. "So what I saw there wasn't jealousy?" Lisa asked with her hands on her hips.

"No" I said. "Also, he could have addressed us when he came there, but he just went on talking to her so there was nothing I could do" I told her. "Do you realize that he could be feeling the same seeing you with Theo" she asked me and for a split second I felt like I was hit by the truth.

"Why would he ever think like that? Thor's my childhood friend."
"And so is Scarlett to him" she said, bursting a piñata of enlightenment in my head. "The bond you share with Theo, anyone could mistaken your friendship for a relationship" she continued.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked, my eyebrows performing the role of a question mark.
"Believe me, three years back I thought that too" Lisa confessed.

By evening, Lisa and I went to the nearest supermarket to get some weekly grocery since things were on discount every Tuesday. Also we both had worked there as part time cashiers in our summer vacations, earning great deals on some products.
