AMARYLLIS' POV:
That darn little ball of fluff refused to stop gripping my hair. I really wanted to rip the little thing off my head but the pain was too much... Not worth it.
When I gave up, I felt its feathers fluff up in pride at its accomplishment on staying on my head.
Strange bird.
Annoying bird.
Fat bird.
Let's see how long you can go without food for you chicken.
~~*~~
The chicken-phoenix hadn't eaten for a few days... It was honestly kind of worrying. Its biological parent was getting worried about the fluff ball as all it did was cling to me and muck around, ruining my hair and causing me pain every single goddamn day.
At least for most of the time, it just kind of sat there and slept. Such a lazy baby it was. See, back when I was a little tiny newborn like the chick, I never stopped moving! It was constant excitement, even I'm aware of the little sleep I would often get most days before having an unnaturally long 'nap'. I also remember all those horrific grooming and deportment lessons I was put through—though I admit I ignored most of them completely—where at one stage they forced piles of heavy books onto my very young and fragile skull, all in the name of 'posture' and 'balance'. Just as I was about to go off the tracks with these strict women, Lucian or Papa would come save me while Mama just scolded us.
Damn, now I feel nostalgic.
I really do miss my family... Though I'm rather happy with this peaceful life, something's missing. There are animals, Orodon as a companion and no war, my ideal life but it just doesn't seem right—feels lonely even.
Now I'm feeling like a whiny brat who has everything one could want but is still dissatisfied. Honestly, I probably am.
Actually... Why is this place so peaceful? I highly doubt that it has anything to do with the creatures—as that would increase the likelihood of bloodshed and war around these parts—and even the fairies being nearby would only help to a certain extent.
So, as any good guest (or temporary resident as I like to think myself as) would do, I asked the owner who in this case is Orodon.
And currently, the white-haired elf was tending to one of his many plants inside his beloved greenhouse.
"Hey Orodon, why is this area so derived from people? It can't just be because the fairies are nearby." He sighed before looking up at me, moving his attention from the plant in front of him to myself.
"I assume you know this but years ago a nine-tailed fox was believed to have ascended to the realm of the Immortal Foxes." I nodded, this fox was closely tied to Argonda's history. "Surprisingly, she was on a journey to the fairies when the ascension happened. It was also at this place, right near the fairies home. Naturally, a form of barrier is given by the land to a sacred area where a creature has defied the earth's law and become immortal. Sadly, none of us is sure if the vixen became immortal or not. For all we know, she could have died during the ascension.
"Either way, the land is in a protective state of this land. So coupled with the fairies close proximity, others are generally kept away."
I never realised how complicated such a peaceful place could be. My mind drifted off once again and I remembered one of the questions I had continuously forgotten to ask Orodon.
"By the way, is it possible to send a letter to everyone to inform them I am safe and sound?" He nodded and waved me off.
"Go ahead. Now shoo, I am busy." With those words sa.id, he went back to his gardening.
