"So where the hell's my hope, and why can't I just try. I know I lost a lot, but I won't let this die."
Evander Winters wasn't a genius, he was well aware of the fact that he didn't know everything. But, if there was one thing that Evan did know it was Kyler Davenport. Evan was positive that he knew Ky, better than he knew himself even. However, despite this Evan could not for the life of him figure out why Ky was so pissed at him the other night. The guitarist sat beside his best friend in the canteen hoping that everything was normal and what happened the other night was just some weird outburst yet, his best friend just rolled his eyes at him and ignored his question as if he was immune to his charm. Another thing that Evan Winters knew was that Kyler was NOT immune to his charm, so why was he being ignored? He wasn't being cocky or anything, or at least he wasn't trying to be, but he'd pretty much had Ky behind him their whole lives and Kyler Davenport did NOT yell at Evander Winters EVER.
"Well Ky I had to have missed something. Spill any secrets that even I wasn't aware of?" Evan questioned with wiggling eyebrows. Dana gave the best friends a curious look, "He calls you Ky? Why does everyone else call you Kyle then? His nickname makes more sense, the other one only shaves off one letter!" The comment caused everyone at the table to look at Kyler inquisitively and flushed under the stares, clearing his throat awkwardly. Avery laughed at the lead-singer's discomfort, "Only Evan calls him Ky, honestly Kyle and Evan have weird name rules for each other and trust me, no one even wants to get into that mess. Over a decade of friendship'll do that to ya I guess," the drummer finished with a mocking sigh and head shake. This bit prompted a chuckle that lightened the awkward mood until the resolution quickly shifted, with his eyes trained on his friend Kyler sighed, "Of course not, you just know everything about me don't you?" Evan quirked a brow at that, if he didn't know him better he would've swore that Kyler was being sarcastic, and with him of all people! Avery coughed a bit, signaling the others at the table to help smooth over the awkward tension and quickly.
"Oh um," Robbie started rushing to say something to fill the silence that had crept up on the table, while Evan looked confused and Kyler poked absentmindedly at his lunch. "Avery was telling us a bit about how your songs are made, he said that Kyler writes all the lyrics, and that he writes to his mood which is why there's so much change! So with Monochrome sounding so different and all we were wondering..." Robbie began to trail off, he quickly came to the realization that this conversation was just as awkward if not more so than the first one.
"Yeah he's definitely right about that, Kyler writes the lyrics and I write the music it's been that way since we were kids. We've always been a team, right Ky?" Evan said with a smile on his face."And once again the blond jock misses the point." Dana whispered loud enough for the table to hear before being sharply elbowed by Robbie. "Ouch! We were all thinking it!" She muttered rubbing her side and grumbling to herself. Kyler looked up at Evan, staring into the calming oceans that were his best friends blue eyes.
Team? He thought to himself. Him and Evan had never been a team. More like boy-wonder and his quiet sidekick. Kyler would follow Evan around adhering to the boy's every whim. Kyler was well aware of the fact that sometimes it felt like Evan was all he had and it was a very scary feeling because Evan was as unpredictable as they come. And with Kyler's biggest fear revolving around being alone, losing Evan was just not an option for him. Sometimes it felt like Kyler's whole world revolved around Evan, especially right around his 15th birthday. Hell Evan was the real reason he got into music in the first place. Sure he had wanted to be a "rockstar" in 1st grade but he wanted it just as bad as a 6yr old girl wants to be a princess. Evan though, it was all Evan dreamed of, and who was Kyler to deny his best friend that dream.
