Ever since I've cleared my conscience and came clean to my parents about the pregnancy, I've been feeling much better. I know things won't ever be the same between Shanelle and I, but I'm happy she forgave me after our talk two weeks ago. In just a couple of days I wouldve been moving away to start a college career in Washington D.C. God had other plans for me.
Today my mom and I are on the way to the doctor for a follow up appointment. I am getting the chance to hear the heartbeat for the first time and find out the gender. Mom and I have patched things up, and our bond is now better than ever. Daddy insisted that I got a job but mama wants me to focus on school. I will be attending Prairie View A & M as a commuter student.
"Kelise Young", the doctor's assistant calls.
We stand up and head to the back. She hooks up the ultrasound monitor while asking me a bunch of questions. Once she was done, she put the cold liquid on my stomach cause me to jump. She put the fetal doppler on my stomach and the sonograph, my eyes started to water as the sound of my baby's heartbeat filled the room. I looked over to mama who was crying too.
"Well from the sound of that heartbeat, you are having a healthy baby boy", she announced.
"Oh my", was all I could say.
She snapped a bunch of pictures and then cleaned my stomach off. We got my next appointment date and left. Mama had to get back to work so she dropped me off at home.
I sat on my bed looking at the staring at the pictures then decided to text Shanelle to let her know.

I sent her the text with a sono gram picture attached. She agreed to still be his God Mother despite our past, which I grateful for. I laid across the bed on my back and decided to talk to my baby.
"Hi mommy's big boy, how are you doing in there. I know you're going to love me and I can't wait to meet you. I am going to try my best to give you the best life possible with or without your father. I was so scared to tell your granparents about you, but they are more excited about you than anyone. There's so many people waiting to love you unconditionally."
My words were cut off by my phone ringing. I looked down to see an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Hey, is this uh Kelise?", I knew exactly who it was.
"What do you want Romelo?"
"Listen, I wanna talk to you about this situation."
"There's nothing to talk about, you made it clear that you don't want anything to do with this child and I'm fine with that. With or without you this child will be brough-"
"Kelise, I didn't mean that okay. Please can I come see you or we meet up somewhere so we could talk?"
"Give me like an hour and we can meet up at Zaxby's."
