Shanelle's P.O.V

We were now a month into the summer and the July heat has started to rise. I have been continuing to keep myself busy with work, but I've also invested more time into my sisters since I would be leaving for college. Kelise and I had decided on attending Howard University since it was from home. It was indeed time for a new scenery.

I had just gotten off from work and showered, so I decided to come and sit on our front porch. One thing I can gladly say is that I would not miss this neighborhood. The number one reason I am going to school is to get my mama and sisters out of this bullshit. It wasn't safe for little girls to grow up here. The guys were complete perverts and tried to push themselves up on anything moving. With my twin sisters turning 14 soon, they were starting to develop in many areas that men kept their eyes glued to. I refused to let them carry themselves in hoeish manner, or for them to become prowl to the pedophiles of the projects. As for my baby sisters, Selena was only 4 and Layla was going on 6, and I planned on having them out of here before they got to be Kamryn and Kelsey's age. We weren't in the best livng situation, mama had to work two jobs to keep a roof over our head and all of the bills paid, so she worked at the same nursing home I did during the day and every other night she was an at-home nurse for the twins' grandmother. As for groceries we received welfare, and I put in for small household necesities such as tissue or laundry items. Mama didn't agree to it, but it was the least I could do for her. Our daddies were no where to be found, except for Lay and Lena's, but he wasn't too much of shit either.

"Sister can I come out with you?", I heard Layla's small voice from the other side of the screen door.

"Yea bubba, come on.", when she walked out I pulled her onto my lap.

"It is so hot out here", she groans, "Can we walk and get popsicles from the store?"

I stood up and held her to my hip, to be six she was very light weight.

"Yea, let's go get my wallet and the two of us can go."

We walked in and I notified my mother that we were leaving out, but would return soon.

"You looking good in that sundress ma, mind if I take up a minute of your time?"

I looked up at the guy who was trying to talk to me in disgust, "No you good where you at."

"Nelle, why do boys always do that?", Lay asked with her face scrunched up, "That's not cool at all."

I laughed at my little sister's reaction to this. "Because boys are stupid bubs, super stupid."

"Well you didn't think Nas was stupid, you likeded him a whole lot... I know cause you kissed him", she replies with a goofy smirk on her face.

"Hush up, you're a mess. Go pick out some popsicles for everybody. I'm gonna go grab some juices and chips.", I walked off not too far from her and grabbed the snacks. Keeping a close eye.

"Hey, you need some help little mama?", I heard a familiar voice ask.

"Yes, thank you. I couldn't reach them.. I don't know where my big sister went."

Quickly, I walked over to where Layla was. Only to see Jon lifiting her so she could reach down into the cooler.

"I'm starting to think you stalking me for real", I say walking up behind him.

He turns around flashing his beautiful smile and puts Layla down. To say this boy was fine was a complete understatement. He stood about 6'5" and had dark chocolate skin. His hair was in deep waves and he had a fully groomed beard. His muscles stood out the most when he wore sleeveless shirts. Jon was a football player and basketball, so he stayed toned and in shape while rocking a solid six pack.
