I was about to leave when a hand wrapped around my arm. The movement caused me to turn around, making me go face to chest with Harry.

"Selene," he began. "I'm sorry for this past week, I really am."

My head shook, "What's been up with you? I don't understand and none of it makes any sense."

He swallowed down hard, "I'm afraid of losing you, Selene."

The answer only confused me even further, "So your solution is to act cold and distant?"

His eyes flashed with desperation, trying to answer a question that was so simple, "Its much more than that- so much more."

"How can we have something if you can't even be honest with me?"

We didn't say anything, we just stood there, trying to communicate with one another and failing ever so miserably.

"This is what I was afraid of, Harry. That working with you would turn into a mistake that would just fuck everything up."

The shop was closed, and I wanted nothing more than to leave. The more we tried to fix whatever this was, the more we ended up fucking it over.

"No," Harry pleaded. "It's not even that," he threw his hands up in frustration. Just then, his phone rang. "I need to tell you something-" he pulled the phone out of his pocket and the name that was displayed across the screen made my stomach churn.

Jane.

"Harry," I warned as I looked back and forth between the phone and his panicked expression as his fingers hung up the call.

"It's not like that-"

My feet began backing away from him. A feeling of betrayal took over and all I could do was shake my head at him. I didn't need to hear anything else he had to say.

"Selene, just listen to me, baby. I need you to-"

He was walking towards me slowly, but I didnt need any of it, "Listen to what? To you telling me that you made a mistake and ended up hooking up with your ex? Or better yet, that you're sorry and you want to make it up to me because it didn't mean anything?"

My words hurt him, that much was evident, but he stopped in his tracks.

"Because all of it is bullshit, Harry!" My voice trembled and so did my hands as I wiped my cheek.

His eyes held the hurt I felt and the pain he caused, "Please don't."

Why was I so stupid?

"Just tell me," I breathed out. "How long?"

Harry's eyebrows furrowed, "You have it all wrong, Selene."

I scoffed, "Then what is it? Because that's what all of this is pointing towards. Why are you still in touch with her?"

Harry ran his hand over his mouth before dragging his feet over to the chair we had for clients and sat down.

"A week ago, she came by. Just after you left," he swallowed before continuing. "She's seven months pregnant."

My eyes looked down before back at him. So she kept the baby...

"What does this have to do with you?" I asked, but I felt the answer coming before I finished my question.

He looked out the window and into the empty street, "She wanted a paternity test, so I gave her one after she kept insisting."

My mouth went dry, "But she said the baby wasn't yours, so why would-"
