' Breathe Emily.
You're going to be alright.'

The thoughts ended in a rupture when she seemed to notice something. The tall trees that was immersed in the sea of darkness appeared quite familiar to her.

Has she gone through this path before?

The question taunted Emily at the back of her mind. She pushed it back with all her might, trying to ease the twisting knot in her heart.

Emily kept walking.

But she was soon interrupted by the vibration from her phone.

Beep.

She looked down.

Battery low.

Her eyes widened at the sudden revelation.

Five more minutes and it will be just her and the unwelcoming darkness.

But the sudden urge to live, to make it out, fuelled an unknown energy into her.

Still.

The darkness.

Emily never knew that each second wasted away on each meaningless step was going to cost her.

Tired?

Terrified?

Distraught?

Words couldn't explain.

The only sound breaking through the deafening silence is her footsteps. Her eyes adjusted to or rather accepted the absence of light in the forest.

Suddenly, her feet abandoned their long walk.

Her eyes widened.

Heartbeats quickened.

The reality settled.

She's not going anywhere. She's trapped.

In the never ending loop of the dark forest.

Still.

Trapped.

In the darkness.
