The bell rang and everyone gathered to their classes.Mr Rogers,as per usual, arrived late and started writing in a hurry an exercise on the board. You wouldn't hear anything but the sound of the chalk. He might have been a little weird, but everyone liked him.He had a gentle face and a great sense of humour.Had they been at the same age,him and Sam would have been great friends.

At the same time he was writing,Sam found the opportunity to write at the last page of her notebook in capital letters <<WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?>>,and gave it to Alex. She looked at the notebook grudgingly and wrote .<<At the library.Besides, you were with Seth the whole time and you know I'm not your boyfriend's biggest fan.>>.Sam instantly grabbed the notebook. As soon as she read what Alex wrote, she frowned. She quickly wrote her answer, with messy, hard to read letters and gave it back to her.<<Yes I know that and I don't understand why.He is a sweetheart!>>.After she read it,Alex nodded negatively.Sam immediately pouted. If he hadn't taken her best friend away with his band for the whole summer, she might have considered to like him,she thought, but didn't want to continue this discussion. She had so many other things in her head at that moment. She just kept on looking at the board.

-Did you tell her?,Louis asked Brandon anxiously.

-Yes.It went horribly. But,something good did came out from all of this.As it appears, she likes me,he answered smiling, filled with satisfaction.

-How nice! You idiot! If her uncle finds out,he's gonna try on you every spell that exists. We won't even find your dust!,he told him frustrated.

-You know what? For a vampire, you're a real chicken!,Brandon teased him and Louis paid him off with a hit with his elbow.-...Αlthough,I don't think she's going to let what happened today go so easily,he added.

He looked at her and realised that things were much worse than he tought.Alex was in really bad condition. The thought that her dearest person on earth, her grandma, might have been in danger, wouldn't leave her mind. Not much time had passed since the heart attack, and now this! She was fighting inside whether to tell her about Brandon's warning or not. This inner "battle" had exhausted her.The classroom was smothering her.It was like the air wasn't enough in there. Every sound reached more intensely to her ears. The knock of the chalk on the board. The creaking of a chair. The teacher's voice. All her senses had been heightened. She grabbed Sam's notebook and wrote rashly:<<I don't feel well.At breaktime,I'll leave.>>

-Do you want me to come with you?,Sam whispered. She was worried for her friend's sudden indisposition.

-No,I'll be fine,she answered.She didn't want anyone right now.

When the lesson was finally over, she went straight to the headmaster to get permission and returned to pick up her stuff.Sam was waiting for her in class.

-I'm leaving,Alex said in a hurry, while placing her schoolbag on her shoulder.

-If you need anything, call me,Sam answered and hugged her.

Brandon was standing outside the door.

-Alex,let me explain,he whispered to her when he saw her coming out.

-I think you've said enough, she answered, passed by him and stepped up her pace.

As soon as she walked out of school, her eyes were filled with tears.<<Not now,not now>>,she kept telling herself to hold on.She didn't even realise when she arrived home.Everything were so blur. She didn't remember anything from the way back. She closed the door and threw her bag on the floor, went up the first steps of the staircase, but felt too weak to move on.She sat and let herself burst.Thick black clouds filled the sky and forced Lana to leave for a while the garden at the back yard, which she hadn't looked after for a long time. She was irritated because the weather messed up her plans, but thought that a little rain would benefit her flowers. She went inside the house vigorously and closed the door rashed. When she saw Alex sitting on the stairs crying, she dropped her tools on the floor and ran to her.
