Chapter 7-Hunt (part 6)

They talked for a while and she learned that indeed Brandon hadn't set foot in school for days. She had to know if he was ok.She was afraid that they had already found him,before she got to warn him.There was only one way to find out.

They went to class for the first lesson and the moment she was walking towards her seat,her gaze fell upon Brandon's desk,at which now Louis was sitting alone.After she thought about it for a while she went and sat next to him.

-Ok...I have the impression that I won't like this...he said to himself.-So...To what do I owe this honor?,he turned to her side and asked her.

That exact moment,the teacher walked in.

-At break time,she said with a low voice and returned to her seat.

<<This will be fun...>>,he thought.He was finding very funny the fact that the Alex he knew all these years was talking to him like that.

When the lesson was over,him,Sam and Alex were still in the class.

-Alex,I'll wait for you downstairs,Sam told her.

-Ok,I won't be late,she answered and remained seated.

Louis was a few steps away from the door.

-Stay exactly where you are,or I promise you that tomorrow morning there will be fresh garlic inside my bag instead of books.I heard you really like them!Personally,their smell bothers me,but for you,be sure that I'll make an exception...,she warned him with a threatening look,that you could tell from his face he didn't enjoy at all.

-Ι don't know...I find you very optimistic...are you even sure you're gonna make it till tomorrow?, he said to her,and before she even realised it,Louis was standing behind her.

-Dare to touch me and you will be found with a stake right through your heart...,she said calm.    - As you must have realised by now,in both cases...you lose.

-I don't know what you've heard,but threaten me again and you will see exactly how dangerous I can be...my dear,he whispered to her ear.

-Don't worry...I've learnt a couple of tricks myself lately...I don't think you want me to try them on you...the first one hurts a bit...,she answered.

-What do you want?,he said bored of their little game and stepped back.

-Nothing difficult.Just to tell me where is Brandon.

-And what makes you think I know?,he answered indifferently.

-Come on now,Alex said and stood up from her seat.-I'm sure you're one of the few people who know.I must talk to him!,she added.

-Why don't you go to his house to see if he's there?I forgot!You can't!,he mocked her.

-You're pushing it too far!I told you I have to talk to him!It's an emergency!,she yelled.

-Listen...he told me not to tell anyone where he is...especially you...,Louis admitted kind of hesitantly.

-He hates me,doesn't he?,she asked him and her eyes filled with tears.

-How can you be so blind?He is madly in love with you!I've never seen anything like it!He is willing to risk everything for you.Do you believe that his father would let him unpunished the moment he decided to protect you that night?,he scolded her.

-Is he ok?,she asked worried.

In just one second,the worst thoughts crossed her mind.

-Ι think so...,he tried to calm her down.-Fine...,he said and sighed.-I'll help you as much as I can. He said he will be at the only place he can calm down and feel you close to him.That's the only thing I can say...I'll get in trouble too if he finds out I talked to you,Louis said.

-I think I know where he is...I should have known...Thank you very much for your help.I'll never forget it.

Louis had proved to be a precious ally and friend.

When all the lessons ended,Alex returned to her house to appease Lana.She was certain she would be furious.However,when she entered the house,instead of Lana,she was welcomed by Lindia.

-Thank God,you're alright!,her cousin said relieved as soon as she saw her and hugged her.

-Lindia?!What are you doing here?,Alex asked surprised.

-What kind of question is that?I came to see If you're alright!,Lindia answered kind of insulted.

-Does Joseph know you're here?,she asked her worried.

-It's very likely that he doesn't...,her cousin said with a hint of hesitation.

-Lindia...,Alex complained tired.She wasn't in the mood for another fight with her uncle.

-I don't care!I wanted to make sure you're ok and I wouldn't let him stop me.Of course I talked to grandma,but I wanted to see you to calm down,she explained.

-Where is she?,Alex asked in a conspirational way.

-In the living room...she is ready to explode...She had been staring at the clock the whole time.

-Alexandra Blake,you better come here immediately!Your cousin won't save you young lady!,Lana was heard shouting irritated.

-I'm screwed,Alex said to herself.

-You're screwed,Lindia agreed with her.

-Ok...It seems that I have no choice,right?I have to go in there...,she tried to convince herself.

-You can always turn invisible and disappear,she teased her.

-You know what?A year ago that solution would have seemed impossible to me,but now... should I try?,she joked nervously.

-Alex!,their grandma yelled even louder.

-I guess not!,the two girls said together.

Since they realised there was nothing they could do,they walked inside.
