Chapter 8-And they almost lived happily ever after (part 4)

-I must confess that I really wanted to meet Joseph's niece,the infamous future Leader of the Wizards,Leonard said as soon as he closed the door.

-I assume that this not the reason why you've come here,Alex answered.

-You are right,but there was no other way.You seem to be very...protected.I imagine that you know for what matter I'd like us to talk about.

-For Brandon,she answered without hesitation.

A few seconds of silence followed.

-Exactly.Brandon is my heir.And above all,he is my son.So for that reason he must be beside my and respect my decisions.

-You mean your orders,she said to him.Leonard looked at her strictly.-What do you want from me?

-It's simple.I want you to convince him to come back to the mansion and never see him again,or talk to him.Ever.I want you out of his life,he answered immediately in such a cruel way that made her froze.

For a strange reason though,she didn't want to show him even a trace of weakness.

-You're asking me to betray him?You don't care how much that could hurt him?,she said.

-He might be hurt,but it's for his own good.I will do whatever it takes to take my son back.

-No.You will do whatever it takes to take your heir,as you said,back,she answered outraged.

-Look.I think I've been pretty clear and civilized with you.Don't make me lose my patience.

-Or what?What?You'll kill me?Do it!,she challenged him.

Leonard laughed.

-I can do something much worse.Do tell me.How's your beloved cousin?Your grandmother?Your dear friend Sam?I'm sure you wouldn't want something bad to happen to them...so you have no choice but to do what I told you,he threatened her.

When she heard those words,Alex was blinded by anger.She had never felt hatred in her life,but that moment she was capable of anything.Only then did she realise the fear Lana had in her heart for her loved ones.

-If something happens to them,you're gonna wish you've never been born!,she screamed.

-Oh,such brave words from a witch that just got her powers,don't you think?I will not allow my son to live with murderers!

-How dare you call us murderers the moment an innocent woman is dead because of you and many more after her!I will say something to you for the first and the last time.I love Brandon more than myself,something you will never feel in your pathetic life.Stay away from me and my family!,she said and went out of the car closing the door with all her force.

Brandon gave back the keys as soon as she went close to him.

-You hairy bear!,she said pissed off when they left.

-Just as I thought...,Brandon said.-Do you still believe that you have no enemies?,he continued and Alex gave him an angry look.

-Don't say a word to Lana about this,please.

-It's the first time I believe that you should talk to her,he answered and she looked at him anglily again.-Alright,alright,he agreed unwilingly.

-There is no point in worring her...she will freak out and that is the last thing I want,she told him,he smiled at her,put his hand around her waist protectively and they walked to the house.

Later that night,they were all sat on the table without talking,unlike other times.Alex was tossing her food pensive without eating.

-I will leave the town,she announced.

-What?,Lana said surpised.-Absolutely no way!,she answered after.

Brandon was listening frozen.

-It's better that way.

-Better for whom?Certainly not for us...for me...,Brandon said to her.

-For you too...trust me....,she told him.-There's also something else...I don't want to be the next Leader.I have the right to give my place and I will give it to Lindia,she continued.

-But that place is yours.It belongs to you.Your mother was our Leader and her father before her. As much as I love Lindia,we all know that she is not powerfull enough to make it,her grandma said to her.

-And what makes you think that I can make it?Everything that is happening is beyond my powers.So many things happened in such a few time...I'm confused,Alex said.

-Even if you leave,it won't change anything.

-Alex,are you sure for what you're doing?,Brandon asked her.

She lowered her head.

-I won't let that happen!,Lana said to him.

Alex took off her mother's pendant.She was feeling it choking her.She left it on the table and went to her room.Lana stood up to follow her.

-Perhaps it's better if I go to her.Let her calm down for a while,She's really stressed,Brandon stopped her.

-I'm sure something happened...you know,don't you?,she asked him.He didn't spoke.                      -Please,answer me with honesty.

Brandon turned his face elsewhere.

-Brandon Wolfdor!,she yelled at him.

-Ok,I will tell you.My father happened!He came to school and talked to her,he confessed.

Lana then turned red.

-Did he dare to come near her?

-Don't worry I was there.He didn't hurt her.Even though,to be honest,she didn't need my help. She handled him just fine,he appeased her.

-Then why is she like that?What did he say to her?

-I don't know,but I know my father well enough.I'm sure he threatened her.

-That he will harm her?She knows that we wouldn't let anyone hurt her!

-Worse.He threatened her that he will hurt the people she loves the most,and that scares her more than anything.My father is an...expert in finding other people's weaknesses.

-Now what are we gonna do?

-Don't worry.I will go talk to her,Brandon said to her.

He stood up from his seat and took her pendant.

-Thank you,Lana said.
