Lies

Tris POV:
I walk down the road leaving Erudite headquarters. Tobias is asleep, and I couldn't sleep one bit. So I decided to take a walk.
I'm walking in the direction to the Abnegation headquarters but it's too far to walk, so I'll never make it. I just really needed some fresh air.
I do like Cole. He's sweet, and very good-looking. But I'm engaged, so I don't have a choice anyway.
And I love Tobias, I couldn't leave him just for some 'crush' I have.
I turn the corner, now heading towards The Amity faction.
I hear footsteps behind me and I look over my shoulder.
What seems to be Tobias stands 10 feet behind me. It's too dark to see his face, but it looks like him.
I stop walking and turn around to face him, but he just stands there.
"Tobias... I just want to be alone right now, okay?" I say.
He walks forward slowly and once he gets closer I notice it's not Tobias.
I back up a few steps, "Who are you?", I ask the person approaching me. But they just keep walking towards me.
I turn around and start to run, but the person catches my arm and holds me in place. I notice it's a male.
I try to get out of his firm grasp on my arms, but this just makes him place his hand over my mouth.
I scream but it's just muffled by his hand. I try kicking his legs to make him fall, but his grip just becomes tighter.
I start to grow dizzy from lack of oxygen and I stop struggling.
"Tris," he says.
His voice sounds familiar.
"You can't marry Tobias," he says sternly, "someone else is better for you."
Anger replaces my fear and I bite his hand.
He groans and pulls his hand away from my mouth. I then twist and kick him in the knee. This makes him stumble back, and I see his face.
"Cole? What is the meaning of this!", I demand.
He looks flustered. "I-I, Tris.." He tries saying.
But before he finishes he punches me in the jaw and I fall to the ground. He then grabs my arms and pulls them behind my back and I cry out in pain.
"Listen to me Tris!", he yells. "Don't marry Tobias. Or I WILL make you pay."
He let's go and pushes me to the ground. I get up ready to fight back, but he's already gone.
I run back to Erudite Headquarters and walk quietlyto Tobias room, and slip into next to him.
I run my fingers over my jaw where Cole punched me and I wince. Definitely bruised.
I lie awake and stare at the ceiling listening to Tobias' peaceful breaths.
"What am I going to do now?", I think.
I roll over and realize it's 7:00 a.m. I get up and walk slowly to the bathroom. I look in the mirror and examine my bruise. It's green and yellow with a little blue.
I sigh and turn to leave, but I bump into Tobias.
He looks angry and tense.
"What happened to your chin?", he asks. He's not mad. He's furious.
I put my hand over my chin to cover the bruise, I shrug.
"N-nothing." I respond.
He walks closer and removes my hand. He gently touches my bruise and I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from crying out in pain.
I can't tell him what happened. He can't hurt Cole. I'll talk to Cole and get this all worked out myself, I think.
"Tris...", he says, this time more softly. "You can tell me who did this to you."
"No one did it to me," I lie, "I just fell and hit my chin on the ground. No big deal."
He stares at me unconvinced. "Dauntless Tris trips and falls, and gets a bruise like that!?" He exclaims.
I nod as causally as I can, "Yep" I say.
He looks away shaking his head, deciding if he should believe me or not.
"Well," he says deciding, "I'll get some ice for that then."
But before he turns away I grab his waist and pull him in for a kiss. He kisses me back and sets his hands on my waist and pulls me in closer.
"I will always love you, Tris Prior." He says softly. "I'm here to protect you. I can't have anyone hurt you. Ever."
"I will always love you too, Tobias Eaton." Is all I say in return. But it just makes me feel more guilty.
