Tris POV:
Someone slowly opens the door and says, "Tris..?"
It's Tobias.
I look at him with sad eyes. I notice his eyes look puffy from crying. I look away. I caused him to look this way. It's my fault.
I'm laying in a hospital bed, hooked up with wires. They keep track of my heart beat and vitals. Tobias sits down on the end of the bed and clears his throat. "You doing okay Tris?" He asks, his voice scratchy.
I look at the wall behind him, scared to look him in the eyes.
"I'm doing fine." I say as calmly as possible. My bottom lip starts to tremble.
I quickly glance at him and notice his blue eyes are full of tears. I stop holding back my crying and let out a sob. He takes me in his arms and I rest my head on his shoulder. It feels good to cry.
"Tris, listen to me," he says softly but sternly, "I'm not going to leave you. Okay? I still love you. And I will make pay whoever did this to you."
All I can do is nod. I don't care about Cole anymore. I don't. But a part of me wants to forgive him.
He pulls away and places one hand on the side of my face. I lean into his hand and close my eyes.
"I love you."
"I love you too," he says quietly.

Then there's a knock on the door. I open my eyes, as Cole walks in.
I pull away from Tobias and back away getting out of bed. The wires on me limit me from backing away any further.
Tobias sits on the bed between us. He looks confused.
"Get away from me," I say but my voice cracks. "Get away!"
Tobias eyes widen in realization and he looks at Cole.
"What did you do to her," he says quietly. "What did you do to her!?" He jumps up and Cole stands there wide eyed.
Tobias grabs Cole by his collar and pushes him against the wall.
I want to yell at him to stop, he didn't mean too. But he did, and I realize I feel no pity for Cole anymore. I think.
"Look," Cole says putting his hands up in defense, "I thought she liked me and-"
"You thought she liked YOU?!" Tobias yells cutting him off. He punches Cole in the side and I cry out but cover my mouth. My eyes fill with burning tears.
A nurse runs into our room, "What are you doing?!" She grabs Tobias arm and pulls him away from Cole.
"Watch your back Cole! You can't get away with what you did to her!" He yells.
The nurse looks around and pushes Cole out the door and slams the door behind her. Tobias is still staring at the door breathing heavy.
"Tobias." A whisper is all I can manage. I'm crying too much.
He spins around and his eyes are flaming with anger. But it quickly dies when he sees me. He slowly walks towards me, "Tris..." He says slowly.
He reaches his hand out to touch my arm but I turn away.
"Get away from me," I say quietly. "Don't touch me!"
His eyes search my face and there's hurt in his eyes.
I put my hands up to block him. Tears steam down my face.
"I-I can't Tobias." Is all I say.
He puts his hand down and stands up straighter. The hurt in his eyes is replaced with anger again.
"What? You're mad at me for hurting that jerk?" He says. His eyebrows turn down.
"I-"
"No," he says cutting me off. He turns away and opens the door. "You don't need my help it seems like anyway."
He closes the door behind him.
Now I'm left with only my thoughts and the beeping of the heart monitor machine.
