Arthur's P.O.V <3

Somehow, all of time froze. It was as if time we're trying to make me suffer even longer. I was living a nightmare.

Except it was real. There was, in fact, a mythical creature emerging from the cave, and it's deep roar boomed across the land and vibrated through my body. The black, menacing dragon slowly slithered it's way behind ___________, and I had to think fast. I couldn't bear the thought of watching my only true love in life die right in front of me, so I picked up my sword from the ground and yelled, ''WATCH OUT!''

The dragon emerging from the cave was jet-black, about 16 feet high, and had glowing red eyes.

__________ slowly turned around and looked up, eye-to-eye with the beast. She backed up a couple steps and stumbled over a rock directly in her path.

'Why am I wasting time and watching this happen!?', I thought to myself, then gripped onto my sword and came running towards the massive dragon. This was a very idiotic move to make, but I was desperate and had to do something quickly.

I held up my sword high, and swung it across the dragon's dark, scaled surface. There was a small cut left, and it didn't seem to hurt the dragon whatsoever. Instead, the beast stepped closer to __________, and extended one arm. She finally got up, and I could see fear spread across her face as she looked up at the about-to-kill-a-person dragon.

I hit at the monster as much and as hard as I could, but failed. There was only seconds left, and my vision went into blur as I saw the dragon's arm coming down rapidly, and it slashed at her vunerable body. I saw blood stain into her clothing and flood around her body. The dragon kept clawing against her limp form until it was satisfied.

I fell to my knees, since my legs were too shaken to support my body. I felt my world crashing down. She was taken away from me once more, but this time she couldn't come back. She was gone forever.

Tears came falling from my eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness, they were tears of anger.

I clenched my fists and quickly got up. I am not going to have her taken away from me again! I can't let that happen!

I got up, and heard the dragon's loud footsteps approach me, leaving footprints of blood from her in the dirt.

''You... YOU BASTARD!'', I fiercely yelled at the dragon.

The dragon roared in response, this time some fire blew out as well. I couldn't contain my anger any longer, and I had no means of fighting the dragon- since swords don't work.

I quickly remember reading from an old Latin textbook about immortal creatures, which included dragons. The only means of killing a dragon, as I remember, was using Irish moss. (I do my research '.')

Where the hell am I gonna find Irish moss?!

The dragon's stomps we're becoming much louder now. I thought as hard as I could and looked around. There's definitely NOT Irish moss on an island in the south Atlantic!

The dragon blew fire once more, and this time it was much stronger and directed towards me. I quickly jumped out of the way as the fire came hurdling towards me, letting it hit against a tree that was behind me. My sword has fallen out of my hands when I had jumped, so I was left defenseless.

I quickly got up and felt around my waist where my gun was.My hands touch something cold and then I pulled it out from the holder that was attached to my belt. Except, it wasn't my revolver. It was my canteen with porter in it.

Then it came to me, Irish moss was used as an ingredient... in porter!

I quickly unscrewed the cap and threw the liquid at the dragon's flesh. As soon as it touched the dragon, the beast instantly started burning and yelping in pain.

I took a swig of the rest of the alcohol as I watched the dragon burn instantly. It wasn't like normal fire, it was much faster.

A couple minutes later, the dragon was gone and nothing remained besides the ashes. I whipped the sweat off my (thick) brows and walked towards the ashes. I glanced towards ____________'s body and felt a cold shiver down my spine. I couldn't save her... No... i DIDN'T save her, I only saved myself!

I looked down and began to think about her, I couldn't help myself.

'Why did life have to be so cruel? Why now? Why to her.. of all people?', I thought.

I felt hot tears roll down my cheeks and realized that I was crying from sadness this time. I ignored the tears and grabbed my gun. For a split second, the idea of using the gun on myself crossed my mind. It wasn't a bad idea after all, not at the moment. I couldn't bare living with the guilt and pain of loosing her from my own ignorant mistake.

I looked around for a moment, making sure no one else was here to see what I was about to do, I didn't want to be remembered in shame, even though I basically should be.

Then a shining, deep red object caught the glimpse of my eye. It was coming from something hidden beneath the ashes. Could it really be..?

I dug through the ashes of the dragon, which we're still warm, and wrapped my hand around the object.

''I can't believe it..'', I gasped. My eyes widened as I stared down at it.

It was the Dragon's Heart gem.

The Dragon's Heart gem that granted someone immortality forever once they wore it.

I clasped my hand around it and thought;

''Could it grant someone who's dead immortality as well?''
