chapter nine - catch me in the sewers

I looked at the clock, squinting to read it, as my vision was a lot worse. That's probably not a good sign.

It was 10 AM.

Fuck, I need to get back to my friends.

Fuck, Mike.

I looked around, and decided I may as well just walk out. I have things to take care of, the least of my concerns was a doctor yelling at me for walking off. He shouldn't have left me alone, anyways. I walked to the door, opening it and stepping out. I headed back towards my room, keeping my head down as people stared at me, flustered by my appearance.

(a/n: i've rewritten this chapter like 3 times its rly not going well i have like no ideas)

I walked up to my bedroom door, pulling on the metal door handle and opening the door. Already there was Bev and Bill, sitting on Richie's bed as Richie sat at his desk. They lifted their heads to look up at me as I entered.

"Eds! You survived!" Richie said, coming over to hug me. The hug took me by surprise, but I definitely can't say I wasn't happy to receive one. I wrapped my arms around him, forgetting what I came here to say for a minute as I indulged in Richie's touch.

"H-how are you?" Bill asked, as I went to sit on my bed, Richie sitting next to me.

"Great." I mumbled sarcastically, leaning back on the wall. Everything above my neck was aching with throbbing pain, and I wanted to crawl into my bed and sleep for the rest of the year.

"So, is your nose broken?" Bev asked. I shrugged.

"Doctor wasn't there when I woke up, I wanted to get back as soon as possible with everything that's going on." I said, and Richie chuckled.

"Damn, rebel." He joked, and I rolled my eyes at him, smiling a bit.

"So, how has your morning been?" I asked them.

"Thankfully uneventful." Bev said. "Mike wasn't at breakfast, I think he's still caught up about Stan. We spoke to Ben today, he seemed okay..." My brain switched back to Mike, having momentarily forgot, and my eyes widened, my brain ignoring Bev's explanation about Ben. Jesus fucking Christ, I woke up literally 10 minutes ago and now we're about to go on another hunt.

Bev continued discussing breakfast, but I didn't pause to hear about Ben.

"Fuck, we need to find Mike, now." I said, getting up quickly. I stumbled a bit, my vision blurring as dizziness pulled at my ability to stand. Richie grabbed onto me, helping me steady myself.

"Jesus Eds calm down, why?" Richie said, Bill and Bev standing up with concerned looks.

"I-I had a dream or a vision or some shit, it said Mike is next." I said. Richie's eyes flashed with realisation, remembering what I told him yesterday when I woke up in that place. Bev and Bill seemed hesitant, but they nodded.

"Are you sure it's not just a dream?" Bev asked.

"If something really is about to happen to Mike, we'll know whether it's just a nightmare or not." I said, heading towards the door. The others quickly followed behind me, and we walked out of our room.
