The pink light of the sunrise poured in from the bay window and I had half expected to wake up in my messy room, with Ella frantically texting me like she normally did in the morning. But when I opened my eyes to find a uniform at my feet and a paper on the seat of the bay window; I sighed realizing that it hadn't been a dream. Cora was sleeping quietly in the other bed. I got up gently so that I wouldn't wake her. My luggage laid at the foot of my bed and I realized that I had forgotten it in the main school building. It only took me a few minutes to get dressed in my new uniform. The classic plaid skirt was fitting, but what caught my attention was the shield embroidered on the breast pocket of my jacket, it lacked the crossed swords that were on Cora's and instead of a blue crescent the symbol that laid on top of my shield was a yellow sun. My finger traced the figure as I walked the long path from the dormitory to the main school building. I found myself in front of the huge building, that was my new school, waiting patiently for those massive double doors to open. A breath escaped from my chest as I felt a hand wrapped around my shoulder. I jumped,
"you really need to stop sneaking up on me like that." I said playfully
"aw, that's no fun" I noticed his plain black pants and formal jacket with a crescent moon over the shield and two crossing swords behind it. "You're not in my class?" I asked a little disappointed and confused
"I'm in the night class." He said softly, I looked up into his clear eyes searching for an answer. He sighed "I'm just here to show you around and make sure that you get to where you need to go." We waited at the door silently for what seemed to be ages. More students crowded the door as the minuets went by. Louis began to worry as more girls from the day class crowded around him.
"what are you doing here Louis?" one asked
"yeah, why are you with this girl?" the last asked bitterly
"are you single?" another asked openly
"ladies, ladies" Louis said in a seductive voice, to get them to shut up. "The head master has specifically asked that no one bother Emily while I show her around. I would also appreciate it if you wouldn't crowd around me or ask questions that I cannot answer." He glanced at the girl who asked if he was single. They all slowly backed away and whispered to each other.
"What-" I jumped at the loud noise the doors made when they opened. The crowd flooded into the school all at once. I didn't push through the crowd and neither did Louis we both waited for the crowd to pass then walked in.
"What was that all about?" I continued from before. Louis snapped out of his thoughts
"what was what all about?"
"you know the whole," my voice went up an octave, "oh Louis" I put the back of my hand on my forehead for effect, "why are you with this girl? Are you single?" his beautiful eyes met mine for a moment, and I sighed in understanding. Louis was perfect and the girls wanted him. I laughed to myself knowing that I could never have him either. He seemed to have noticed that I answered my own question and changed the subject.
"your first class is Greek and roman mythology." He said as we walked through the halls and reached the huge class room. There were no desks just massive tables that stretched the entire length of the room they were slightly above each other and they curved inward to force your focus to the center of the room. I sat in a random seat and Louis sat down next to me. The professor was dressed in a formal suit and wore a red tie. His features were strong and distinctive, his chin was pronounced, his lips were full and his eyes were piercing yet kind.
"Good morning class," his voice was deep "For those of you who are new," his eyes shot to Louis and I "my name is Mr. Williams and I will be your Greek and roman mythology teacher for the rest of the year." He set his things down on his desk, "let's get started, open your text books to page 257." I looked down at the book that laid on the desk in front of me, I opened the book to the right page and then pretended to pay attention to the lecture on Greek gods. However, my mind began to wander and I began thinking about what happened when I first met Louis. How fast he was, how he dropped me to my knees in a split second, how is that even possible? He was moving so fast his body was almost blur. How beautiful he was, his eyes piercing blue, almost resembling ice. His skin clear and glowing. Before I knew it, class was over and we were heading to some sort of AP biology class, once that was over we moved to a world history class. Not much time passed before we were heading to my favorite subject math. As Louis and I walked side by side in the hallways people stared and whispered, none spoke directly to us or got in our way so I ignored them. The room we went into was exactly the same as the other and once again we choose a seat at random. The teacher, Mr. Clark, was a little too peppy for my taste but at least his class was a little more challenging than Mrs. Albertson's history class. "wow, I really didn't think you could solve that one." Louis mused
"Guess I'm smarter than even you, Louis the all-knowing smart ass." I shot back. He smiled arrogantly
"That's right I am all-knowing." The bell rang interrupting our match.
"Time for lunch." Louis said, Mr. Clark then announced the end of class, so I quickly grabbed all the papers in front of me and followed Louis. We stopped in front of the cafeteria,
"Will you be fine alone?" Louis asked sincerely
"Were are you going?" I asked disappointed
"I need to run some errands." He said blankly "I'll be back after lunch though." He said humorlessly.
