I walked toward the school building tracing the embroidered swords that crossed behind a bright yellow and orange embroidered sun of the breast pocket of my uniform. It felt out of place, to be walking to the school building in the middle of the night, with a bright sun on my uniform screaming the label of out of place! As I approached I felt my palms perspire and my pulse kick in, I was about to enter a school full of creatures I barely understood, this was a whole new world.
"Relax, there's no reason to be scared or nervous." I yelped, and elbowed the man behind me in the gut, "oof. Ow! It was fine when you were human, but that really hurt!" Louis complained.
"Then stop coming up behind me and scaring me!" I argued. Louis chuckled and kissed my temple, "What are you even doing here?" I said, ignoring the fluttering in my stomach as his tender lips kissed my temple.
"I decided it would be best for you to have a guide through the day, guess who it is." He said as we passed the large front gate.
"You." I replied blandly.
He gasped sarcastically, "Look at you! Miss 170, so smart!" He pet my head. I hissed threateningly and he chuckled.
My eyes widened as we passed the front door and entered the building, the school was alive with activity. From fuzzy to scaly, there was every type of supernatural species imaginable. Demi- humans, Shifters, Seer's, people with sets of fangs, people with objects floating behind them, winged humans-like creatures with tails, and people with pitch-black and deep purple flames emanating from their palms. It was a madhouse of supernatural activity. All were wearing uniforms with the silvery moon crescents on the shields of their breast pockets. I fell back into Louis's chest when a tall boy growled at me huskily, before falling back into the group of people he was following, "Nope." I said turning around and heading toward the door Louis and I had entered through.
Louis grabbed my arm, "Whoa there, where do you think you're going."
He turned my body to face him, "Out." I motioned to the door.
He chuckled, "Come on, you're not leaving, scaredy-cat." He said pushing me down a familiar corridor.
I struggled against his iron grip around my waist, "I'm not scared, just overwhelmed." I defended myself. As I was pushed down the hallway eyes glued onto me and followed my struggling body with a burning intensity. I ignored the gazes and focused on my escape, but before I could we were already entering a classroom. I cast my eyes to the ground to avoid the gazes of the many creatures that filled the seats. Even though the guard's meetings were held at night in the main school building, we entered and exited through a more secluded and unused wing of the building, so I was used to seeing some creatures here and there, but never this many all together in one place. My stomach churned and I tried my hardest not to vomit up blood.
Louis and I took our seats close to the back of the room, "Good night students," our teacher said from the front of the room, he was a centaur, his horse body had a fine and shining coat of brown hair, while his sculpted torso rose from the front half. He wore beautiful armor on the section of his body where his human skin met the horse's body. His long black hair was tied up in a ponytail, and its coarse black flow matched his tail, "Open your Greek and roman mythology books to chapter 5, we will be talking about the gods today."
I looked over to Louis, my mouth gaping, and I mouthed the words, A centaur!? Teaching Greek and roman mythology!? Louis Chuckled and rolled his eyes, "Yup."
"Wow." I said pulling out a text book from under my chair. The lesson was very interesting and way less boring then the myths they taught in the day class, it was more raw and real coming from a real mythological creature. It was also kind of frightening knowing that all the wars and sex between the Gods was real. I shivered grossing myself out.
"Pssst. Pssst!" I heard a small voice call from behind me, "PSSST!"
I slowly turned around to face the most adorable creature I had ever seen. The girl had a human face, her nose was petite, her lips were thin and her mouth was small, her eyes were slightly slanted giving her a feline look, they were also lined with thick, long, black lashes that enhanced her bright yellow silted irises. Her hair was straight, fiery red, and ran to what I assumed was the base of her back. What surprised me the most was the fluffy red cat ears that poked through her flaming locks, they had white fur at the very apex of the ear. A puffy red tail also swayed curiously from behind the desk she sat at, its color was as red as her hair and ears, and like her ears the top of her tail had snow white fur. Her face was soft and youthful. I internally squealed at her curtness, "Yes?" I asked calmly.
Tiny fangs came into view as she spoke, "Do you have any vaseline?" her voice was high pitched and her head tilted slightly to the side as she stared at me, patiently awaiting my response, "What?" She asked confused by my starring.
I shook my head, "U-um, yeah I think I have some." I dug through my school bag, pulling out a small container of petroleum jelly.
Handing it to her I watched as her face lit up with glee, "Thank you! I hate chapped lips." she said lightly applying a thin layer of it to her small lips.
"May I ask something?" I said watching as she closed her eyes in satisfaction.
One of her eyes opened, and her bright yellow, feline eye looked at me with curiosity, "Hmm?"
"I hope it's not rude to ask, but, what are you?" She giggled childishly and handed the small container back to me.
"I am a Neko." She said proudly, closing her eyes, lifting her chin and puffing her chest.
"A Neko?" I had never heard of that before.
"Yes, Neko, it means cat in Japanese." She tried to explain.
"You, look more like a fox." I said watching as her cute white tipped ears shifted atop her head.
"Well, that's just me, there are a lot of different looking Neko's." She said cheerily.
"Louis." I shifted in my seat and faced forward again, looking over at Louis who had his gaze locked on someone near the door we used to come into the classroom, "There's a situation, we need you." Kai said from the front of the room. My heart began to race What was going on, I didn't know where to go for my next class, or any class for that matter.
Louis's crystalline eyes shifted from his brother to me, "I have to go. Find a friend and follow this," He threw me a schedule, "It was my schedule, but I figured my classes would be just fine for you," He said gathering his stuff, "I will be back as soon as possible." He said before kissing me atop the head and leaving. I huffed feeling alone, who would I ask? One person came to mind and I slowly turned around to face her, a grin spread on my face. Her ears fell from their perky position and her eyes widened.
She sighed, "Fine I'll help you, but only if you give me the name of that sexy chunk of meat." Her eyes darkened with lust and I followed her heated gaze to see who she was referring too.
I raised my eyebrows shocked, not only because it was strange to hear those words coming from such an adorable being, but also because of who she was looking at, "Kai?"
She sighed lovingly, "Kai." Her tail swayed softly and I chuckled, her cheeks became florid, "What?" She asked embarrassed.
"He's a vampire." I said with a raised eyebrow.
The fur on her body stood on end and her shoulders raised, "A v-vampire?" She squeaked.
"Yes." I chuckled.
"W-well I'm not scared." She tried to act tough.
The bell rang loudly, dismissing us from class. We both stood up and gathered our things, "Hey, What's your name by the way." I asked.
"Hannah. Yours?"
"Emily." I smiled down at her, I wasn't very tall, but Hannah was very short, making her look even cuter.
"Well, let's go." She said taking my schedule.
"We have our next class together!" She said excitedly before grabbing my wrist and dragging me out the door.
