Gaara's POV
Tsuki and I woke up early. Ai was still sleeping. Tsuki and I got ready and I headed downstairs. "I'll be downstairs in a minute." She said. I nodded and went downstairs. Tsuki came down with So shortly after.
We met up with the others and started working on a plan. "The best thing to do right now is to send a spy." I said. "Who will go though?" Tsunade asked. "I'll go." Tsuki said.Tsuki's POV
Everyone glanced at me. "She is the best candidate." Tsunade said. The others nodded except for Gaara who looked concerned. "They are familiar with her. She can hide in plain sight." Tsunade said. "Ok." Gaara reluctantly agreed. Once the meeting was dismissed, I went home with Ai and started dinner.
I looked outside and saw that the sun was down. "Gaara should have been home by now." I thought. I picked up Ai and walked to the office. I quietly opened the office door. "Gaara?" I said. I looked at my red haired husband who was sitting at his desk working on paperwork. "Hm?" He said without looking up. "Come on. It's time for dinner." I said smiling slightly. He sighed and stood up. We walked home and ate dinner.
I put Ai to sleep and Gaara and I went to bed. I tried to sleep but quickly realized that Gaara was still awake. I rolled over and put my hand on his arm. "Will you be ok?" He asked worriedly. I leaned up on my elbow and kissed his cheek. "I will. I promise." I said. He rolled over to face me.
I rested my head on his chest and he wrapped his arm around me. "I love you." I said. "I love you too." He said. We fell asleep quickly.
The next day, Shikamaru, Shizune and Sakura all arrived. We began making preparations and plans for the war. Everyday we kept working.
The clock ticked down to the beginning of the war. Ai was now a year old. Eventually, it was time for me to leave on my mission. I lightly kissed Gaara and Ai who were still sleeping on their cheeks.
I stepped out into the cold night air and tied my forehead protector around my neck. I slid my kunai into my thigh holster and put on my coat and backpack. I walked towards the village gates as the sun began to rise. I continued walking away from the village as I drew closer to the forest.
I walked to the Village Hidden in the Rain. The base was on the outskirts of the village. I put my hood up to fend off the pouring rain. The hideout came into view shortly. I slipped my forehead protector into my backpack.
I walked in and removed my hood and shoes. I realized how late it was and that they were sleeping. I walked to the back and put my shoes back on. I walked to the nearby clearing. The moonlight fell through the branches and gracefully danced across the headstone. I walked to the hill nearby and searched the surface for the small white flowers. I found one and picked it. I found a few more and made a small bouquet.
When I got back to the clearing, I saw Dad there. "Hi Dad." I said. He looked up from the headstone as I placed the fragile flowers on the grave. "Snowdrops were your mother's favorite." He said. I nodded and smiled down at her grave. I barely remembered my mother.
I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I left the site.
*Timeskip 1 month*
It was dawn before I left. I ran home. I ran straight to Gaara's office and walked quietly to his office door. I quietly opened it andd closed it behind me. He was working on paperwork as usual. I smiled and walked up behind him. I hugged him from behind. "Hi." I said smiling. I kissed him on the cheek and let him go. He stood up with a smile and hugged me tight. "I'm home." I said. He kissed my forehead. "I missed you." He said. "I missed you too." I said. We went home and went to bed after dinner.
