When we got to school I plastered on that fake smile, saying hi to everyone you know. When we met up with our friends everyone starts gushing about they're summers I just stand there, studying the ground.

"Hanna, you ok?" my friend Ellie asks,

"Yeah, I'm fine." I say looking up. Ellie was wearing her black short shorts, a white shirt and her mid-back, white-blond, wavy hair half up half down. She had a worried expression on her face.

"No your not. I can tell." she whispered so our other friends won't hear.

"I haven't been cutting if that's what you're asking." I whispered, lying through my teeth

"Hey, me and Hanna are gonna go the bathroom. We'll be back in a couple of minuets, 'k." Before anyone answers Ellie drags me into the closest bathroom, she pushes each stall door open to make sure no ones in them. No one is.

"Give me your wrist." I hand her my right wrist

"No, your other wrist." I sigh and hand her my left wrist.

Ellie sucks in her breath

"Hanna..."

"I know, I just can't stop." I say, almost in tears. Ellie hugs me

"I know what your going through. Remember, I went through this in 7th grade too."

"Yeah, but this is high school and I've been doing this for 3 years so its harder to stop."

"Hanna you have to stop!"

"I can't, I've tried!" I suddenly burst into tears

"Omg Hanna I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry!"

"I-it's ok."

"Hanna, I have to tell you something."

"Yeah?" I look up at her. Her normally smiling face has a sad expression on it

"What's wrong Ellie?"

"Hanna, I have cancer" she says softly. I jump up.

"WHAT!" I yell "YOU HAVE CANCER!"

"Hanna, calm down." Ellie says.

"Ok," I say "but what kind is it?"

Ellie mumbles something

"What did you say?"

"Leukemia."
