Chapter 17

I woke up in the hospital and all the events from yesterday kept flowing back to me. The beeping of the heartbeat monitor gave me a pounding headache, and the nurse came into the room.

"Thank god you're awake, you've been out for 3 days."

"What happened after I got hit?"

"The firetrucks, police, and ambulance came, and they cut you out of your car 5 minutes before it exploded. The person in the other car was texting while driving, so it's not your fault, and he has to use his insurance to fix your car."

I nodded. "Could I check Facebook?"

My mother walked into the room. "Honey, checking Facebook wouldn't be the best idea ever. Some girls have written some mean things, and you've seen that movie Cyberbully.....some girls from your school have posted stuff like that."

I don't cry at this, because I'm almost used to it now.

"But I think-

"No, you are not. This has spiraled out of control, and it's not going to happen anymore."

"But mom, everyone will think I'm a coward if I just delete my social networking sites!

"I am your mother, and you will listen to what I say!"

"Yeah? Well you weren't a mother when you left me for 2 years and wouldn't of gived a shit if I died!" I screamed.

I know I'm throwing a tantrum, but she has no right to pull out the "I am your mother card."

She quietly stepped out of the room, and I flopped back down onto my pillow.

"Dylan, Don't do that. It can irritate your head even more."

"I don't care! Get me a laptop!"

The nurse sighed and handed me a laptop, and I logged into facebook.

The words.

Posted on my timeline where the words I imagined earlier, but this time they were real. Only Madelyn and Sophia haven't posted on my timeline, which shocks me. Maybe they've finally had enough.

I'm about to log out when I hear a beep come from the laptop, and saw that I was put into a group chat with Madelyn, Sophia, and Chase.

They all started sending messages right away.

"Hey, r u alright?" Madelyn sent.

Sophia and Chase sent variations of the same thing.

"Oh, so u guys actually care? Thx 4 the support." I sent.

They caught my sarcasm, because none of them sent back anything like "Oh you're welcome."

Instead Chase sent "We r sorry. We were mean and we shouldn't of done that."

"Maybe you shouldn't of."

"Can you meet us at the park?" Sophia sent.

"Idk, I'm in the hospital."

"Just come. C u in 20."

They all logged off and left me online alone.

I closed the laptop and my mother stood there.

"You can go." She said.

"How did you know?"

She held out my phone to me. I never had a passcode on it, because none of my friends ever hacked it to take selfies, go on my Instagram, or message a cute boy on Kik.

"Thanks mom."

"I don't like them, but if they're going to fix what they did, I guess I'm okay with it."

"Okay. I love you."

"I love you too."

After my mother discharged me from the hospital, I changed into blue skinny jeans, a red hoodie, and black converse, and walked to the park.

No one was there, besides Madelyn, Chase, and Sophia, who are sitting under a shelter that is heavily graffitied.

"Why." Is all I say.

"We never really had a reason."

"Then why did you do it?!" I half scream, half question.

"Because when this whole war started, Sophia and Chase were actually out to make you said."

This new information baffles me, and I'm putting the pieces together. Madelyn becoming my friend made it easier to torment me, because making Madelyn feel bad hurt me too, and then we did stuff to her, and then she did stuff to Madelyn.

But what I never noticed was that all the things Sophia had done, I was a part of.

I whip out my phone and see the pictures of the party Madelyn was at. I was there too, but now I see myself in the background.

I was also drunk that night.

And I don't have a shirt on either.

"But you did worse things to Madelyn than me!"

"Dylan, I already ruined your life by making you do the extreme weight loss diet thing. I nearly killed you."

"But then why did making Madelyn upset ruin me?"

"Because you got involved too."

"So basically, you ruined Madelyn's life, but was always trying to ruin my life?"

Sophia nodded.

"And I feel super bad about it. Is there anyway we could all start over?" Sophia asked.

"Sophia, you did a lot of bad things to me, and others too." I said.

She put her head down and faced the ground.

"And there's a 99.99% chance I won't trust you fully ever again."

"I understand."

"But I'm willing to take that 00.01% chance, that I can trust you somehow."

Sophia put her head up and lit up like a Christmas tree. She ran over to me and hugged me, and I could feel my shirt getting wet from her tears.

"And Madelyn, same goes for you."

She ran over and hugged me too, and all 3 of us broke down and started crying too.

After about 5 minutes of this, I saw Chase awkwardly standing there. "Chase, get over here."

He smiled and walked over, and the 4 of us had a big crying fest.

I don't know if I can ever fully trust them again, but I'm willing to try.

I mean, we're 17. We're teenagers, and we're imperfect.

We're going to make mistakes in life, big and small.

I guess this is just the beginning of a life full of mistakes.

A/N

aw.

Its over, but I still have the epilogue to post. It'll be coming sometime in the next 4 days, so don't you delete this story yet.

Thank you for all the votes, comments, and fans I gained along the way.

I started with 10 reads and it was like that until chapter 7, and now I'm at 500 some reads.

It's not a lot, but that's a pretty big number.

I learned a lot during this story, and I hope everyone reading did too.

Thank you for supporting this journey, even if it was only a short story. Everyone who kept reading when I put this on hold numerous times, and put up with me with my crappy shirt chapters.

Thank you so so much.

Stay Classy (:

And stay tuned for the epilogue.
