At the Castle, the paladins worked on methods of getting others to help their cause. Currently, the planet TsonDüra was their target. It was the largest planet owned by the Galra, and the team hoped to free it. Everybody was frustrated, and it didn't help that this had been a bad day.

Pidge had accidentally messed up her latest project, causing her to be in a negative mood, Hunk failed to replicate his newest recipe after realizing he had forgotten to write the instructions down, Keith was always in a bad mood, and Shiro's prosthetic had been acting up. The paladins were completely upset, and both Allura and Coran knew not to push any buttons. Lance, although trying to give good advice, seemed to be getting the worst of their attitude.

"Hey guys, what if we-"

"Lance, shut up please. We are trying really hard and unnecessary comments are unwelcome."

"Shiro, how about-"

"Quiznack, Lance! Shiro told you to knock off the remarks! Do you ever listen?!"

"Maybe-"

"Lance, just keep your mouth shut. We don't need the help of some cargo pilot who only made it because somebody else was dropped."

That last one hurt. A lot. Suddenly, a loud beeping tore through the room.

"Paladins, we have a distress signal from TsonDüra! We need to go!" Allura's voice thankfully snapped everybody into action, and before long, all were flying towards the massive planet.

They landed in a field just behind a cliff. They raced out to greet the king, who shook frantically. His arms flailed wildly as he spoke in a language Lance knew he could never replicate with fervour.

"King Glædouņ says that his daughter is going to jump off the ledge!" The paladins froze before taking off towards the cliff, finally getting a good look at the scenario.

A girl just younger than Lance stood on the edge, back to the paladins. She suddenly spoke out in somewhat fluent english.

"If you try and grab me, I will jump!" She shook as she spoke, moreso because of the cold than the fear. The other paladins all started panicking, not being prepared for this.

"Kid, get down! Knock it off, alright?!" Keith shouted, making the situation worse. Shiro scolded him while the girl took a small step forward. A small rock broke off of the edge, dropping down. The paladins didn't hear it hit the ground.

"Hey, uh... come down!" Hunk tried to no avail. Pidge and Shiro both made attempts, but all were weak. You could tell she was seconds away from jumping.

"Let me try." Lance pushed past the paladins, walking silently to stand beside the girl. He kept a good distance, wincing when he heard the angry shouts of his teammates.

"Hey. My name is Lance. What's yours?" He started off with small conversation.

"Mæ. I take it you want to talk me off of here, too," she stated, hitting the nail on the head. Lance sat down and patted the ground beside him, feet dangling over the edge.

The girl cautiously sat beside him, careful to avoid his hands. Lance pulled his arms to his lap, ignoring the screams of the paladins behind him. Mæ looked from the team to Lance, making the connection instantly.

"They don't trust you. You're the outcast." The finality of her statement was clear, and Lance nodded.

"They treat me like shit. I do everything I can to help them, but they only think of me as a nuisance." Lance rubbed his wrists, feeling the gentle fabric of the gauze just under his armour. Mæ seemed to notice as well and happened to catch the glimpse of off-white before he pulled his sleeve down more.
