Takes place between season 3 and 4.
Lance walked down the hall, greeting his friends once he got to the lounge. Hunk and Pidge both acknowledged him, but Shiro, Keith and Allura remained in a discussion, completely ignoring him. He shrugged it off like usual; this happened a lot before bigger fights or missions, and Lance knew not to get in the way. They seemed to be talking about firepower.
"Out of our lions, we might not have enough strength or skills to defeat the Galra soldiers and the drones before being able to release the prisoner," Shiro says to a slightly frazzled Allura.
"Skills are not a problem. Everybody is fairly well in their own talents. We need stronger weapons and more people fighting with us. We would need an army to take out every soldier in that ship!" She retaliates, her word carrying more bark than before. Still, Shiro does not wince or jolt. He responds in a perfectly calm tone of voice.
"Where will we get this army? We have very little resources as it is." Allura stops and thinks, anger clearly visible on her face and in her body language.
"Fine, well if you have a better idea, let's just rush right in!" She snapped, making Lance wince slightly. Shiro also now had gotten a bit riled up, and he made the worst decision he possibly could have ever made.
"Fine!"
......
The crew crept onto the ship. They had had to leave their lions behind in order to remain undetected, so they had to remain in formation at all times.
"Alright, we will take two lefts and a right and then we will be in the open. Be cautious, everyone. A single soldier could alert all others," Pidge reminded, glancing down at a map of the area. It was a little bit off, not finding any drones or soldiers so far. Lance had a bad feeling, but when he expressed his concerns to the group, nobody cared to listen.
"Alright guys, we're here. The prison should be on the other side, but it is an open area. Be careful," Keith whispered. As soon as they entered the dark room, the door behind them slammed closed. Suddenly, they were met with a bright light which lit up the room. Lance really wanted to say 'I told you so' after taking one look around.
There were soldiers by the hundreds standing before them and around them. They all wore smirks of some sort, and Lotor himself was heard over the intercoms.
"Welcome, dear paladins, to your demise! This will be a team fight, but I doubt you could survive even together. Let's get on with it!"
As soon as it went silent, the soldiers began firing, forcing the paladins to put up their shields. They backed up into each other, trying to protect all sides. A cry suddenly came from Pidge, and another from Hunk. Both were shot, thankfully non vital, but still enough to render them unable to fight. Shiro winced as he was hit in the side, but he stood firm. Lance grew angry when one of the soldiers began taunting them. His eyes suddenly became catlike.
"Get behind me," he growled, and at the sound of disagreement, he full on snarled, his voice dropping a couple octaves into a paralyzingly low tone.
"Now!" They paladins obeyed, confused and almost terrified. Lance suddenly looked back, drawing a gasp from those who saw his eyes.
"I need you to get out as soon as I cause a distraction. The panel on the door can be easily opened. Pull the blue wire, then the green. Exactly in that order, or you will blow up. Got it?"
The paladins nodded in fear, but before they could call out to him, he began to change.
He became massive, taking on a void-like color. He grew scales and a tail, his teeth sharpening as he smirked down at the soldiers. When he was done, he was almost fifteen feet. He was on all fours, but when he rose to his hind legs, he stood at total of twenty five feet. His head damn near hit the roof of the arena. His snarling shook the ship, and in the distance, he could hear the paladins' various responses. He whipped his head around and his glowing blue eyes forced them into action.
