I said I would post soon, so here it is. Sorry to the Pidge lovers. Also, this has no ships mainly, but there is Klance if you squint. I know this one sucks. I'm sorry.

Lance ate at the table silently, listening to the various conversations. His eyes panned over to the two at the far end of the table. Shiro was speaking with Allura, although it didn't seem as if he was even listening. He just kept staring into her eyes with a tinge of pink sprinkled on his cheeks. Allura looked just as flustered, if not more; she kept playing with her hands and refused to look in his eyes most of the time, a sign of blatant nervousness, her cheeks were flamed up more than the male she was speaking with and she kept tucking her hair behind her ears. The two obviously had it good for each other, so why didn't they just go out already?

Lance looked over to Pidge, Hunk and Coran. They seemed to be talking about something involving mechanics or electronics, because Hunk's eyes were lit up and Pidge was actually answering instead of using sarcastic comments like she normally would. Lance noticed Coran used his hands a lot when he talked to a group. He would tone it down when he talked one-on-one with somebody, but the Cuban male had realized from watching them for so long that he was a normally flamboyant male and that he seemed most active when around the tiny techhead and the huggable mechanic/cook.

Noticing somebody, like him, was left out, he scanned the room for Keith. There, in the corner, sat Keith, done eating and watching the others just as he was. Their eyes met briefly, Lance nodding silently towards Keith as a hello. Keith copied Lance's motion, both going back to watching their teammates talk. The two had matured a little more, getting into less fights than before. Their little 'rivalry' had ended, both accepting the fact that distractions like that could get others killed. It almost had once before, but Lance would rather not think about that.

Allura laughed loudly, the sound echoing. The others didn't pay any mind. Her laughter was quite common. Allura tried to hold in her chuckles, accidentally snorting. Her and Shiro laughed harder at that, both ending up on the floor and wheezing. Lance felt a tiny smile grace his face. It was the first true one in a while, not that anybody knew that. If you looked closely, you would be able to tell that Lance's real smile was just slightly different than his fake one. His eyes never squinted when he used his false smile, but when his true one surfaced, his eyes just barely closed.

Now that Lance thought about it, there were a lot of things that the team didn't know about him. He bet they didn't know about the small freckles that covered the bridge of his nose, although he used a bit of foundation he borrowed from Allura to cover them. He knew for a fact that they hadn't realize he slowly stopped making puns and flirting with people, nor did they know anything about his bisexuality. The biggest and most important thing they hadn't asked about or found out was his past.

Lance may seem like he has a big, beautiful family, but his family is greatly dysfunctional. With a mother grieving the death of both her beloved and her first born child, she never paid much attention to Lance or his siblings. He had one older sibling and six younger, but that number was reduced one after The Accident. That stupid thing had left him as the oldest, making him the only person over 15 that lived in the house back then. He had to care for his six siblings after his mother turned to drugs, damn near tearing him apart both figuratively and literally. His wallet was in a worse state than he was and he had had to resort to some... unhealthy means of getting money.

If you said it, Lance McClain probably had done it. He had worked many legal jobs and even more illegal, resorting to Street Fighting, drug dealing, drug making, prostitution and even running a site on the black market that sold a bunch of highly dangerous weapons.

One night, though, he was caught swindling one of his main clients and was chased by his jockeys. He should have known not to go back to his house in the middle of pretty much nowhere, but he did anyways. The ravenous client had ended up holding his remaining family hostage, eventually killing off his mother and three out of the six children. Only Chloe, Mateo and Sebastian had survived, but Lance nearly died saving them. He was shot twice, once in the right hand and once in his left thigh. Neither hit anything vital, both miraculously avoiding any arteries and going clean through each body part.
