I got home before school was even let out, causing my mother to be suspicious and leaving me with no way to lie about going to school. She saw the bags in my hand and looked at me in disappointment as I walked to my room. Once in my room I sat on my bed and messed around with all the settings on my new technology before lying down and falling asleep to an 80's rock station.

The next morning I woke up to my phone still blasting outdated music into my room. I looked at the clock and the numbers 4:31 were displayed on the digital screen. I had to have been pretty damn tired to sleep that long. I decided it wasn't worth lying back down so I got up, threw in a load of laundry, consisting mostly of my new clothes, and started messing with my hair, putting gel and mousse in, brushing it, and trying to fix it with hair spray. After having about 20 pounds of product in my hair, I decided it would be best to take a shower and start over. The entire time the warm water fell against me, I couldn't stop thinking about that girl; Who was she? Did she go to my new school? If she did go to my school, why would I have seen her on the street, did she ditch? Why was she so interesting and what about her made it so that I couldn't look away? Would I ever see her again? I tried not to think about it as I dried off and continued to prepare for school. It took me two hours to get everything ready before leaving for school. I ended up mildly spiking my hair and wearing denim shorts with a graphic tee. My backpack was empty as I leisurely walked to school, I hoped it would stay that way.

I arrived at the courtyard in front of the school just in time to see that girl again. She was riding her board, weaving in and out of groups and occasionally glancing around. I headed towards the front doors, still watching her, still curious, still enchanted by her being. She swerved closer with every movement until she was a few feet away. It didn't appear that she belonged to any of the socializing groups, yet she didn't seem to care either. The bell rang and I stopped staring at her and headed into the building, occasionally glancing behind me to familiarize myself with her appearance. Every time I looked back, she seemed to get closer and I got a better look at her face. Her eyes were a dark shade of brown and her lips curved into a smirk on both sides. The first door I passed in the hall was the office. I walked in and went up to the lady at the front desk, "Hi, I'm new it's my first day here." She looked at me and smiled, "Lovely! What's your name so I can find you schedule?"

I told her my name and he handed me a sheet that had all my class information on it along with a map of the school and my locker combination. By the time I was finished in the office, class had started and I was left to wander the empty halls looking for my locker. I walked down a long corridor and turned left according to the map. I had my head down, trying to figure out where I was when I was suddenly sprawled onto the floor. I blinked a few times and looked up to see black hair sitting in a perfect wave. Out of every student I could of ran into it had to have been this girl didn't it, "Dude watch out." She paused and looked at my face, "You're new aren't you?" I nodded. She walked away without another word. I watched her walk away out of the corner of my eye as I stood up and grabbed my paper off the ground. I continued searching for my locker and by the time I found it, I had missed half of homeroom. When I walked into the class, everyone looked at me, including the teacher, "Class this must be our new student, River. Were very glad to have you in our class. Kelsey, there's enough time left in class for a tour I suppose, so why don't you show out new student around?" A girl with a high, light brown pony tail nodded and stood up walking over to the door. She smiled at me and walked out the door looking behind her, hinting for me to follow. We walked down the halls and she told me about which classes were in each section and where to go when I needed whatever. We were almost back to our class when I saw the girl from earlier run out of a classroom. Kelsey must have seen the confusion on my face because she stopped to explain who that girl was. "That's Skylar Park, she's a junior, she was new last year and made an impression pretty fast when she stole exams from the principal's office and never got caught. It was pretty obvious it was her, I mean she isn't exactly a goodie-goodie. Well anyways why'd you move here?" I explained to her about the bullies and she promised me it would be different here. I really hoped she was right.
