We got back to our apartments and I expected Sky to follow me to my room like she normally did, but this time she stopped a flight below, at her window. I turned around confused, was she still mad about the tattoo? She saw me looking at her, "What?"
"You aren't gonna follow me in?"
"I thought today we would go to my room."
I wearily walked back towards her, "Really?"
"Is it that shocking?"
She opened up her window and climbed through, grabbing my hand and pulling me with her. The room was small, identical to mine as far as layout, but the stuff in it looked like it came from a different planet. The walls had posters of old rock bands and her bed had a twisty wire frame with lace blankets draping over the sides. She flicked the light on and I could see more clearly how perfect everything was, no mess, it looked as if the place had never been lived in. I was gonna comment on her place, but she started talking before me, "I know, clean, very clean, I'm obsessive. And in case you're worried, my parents aren't gonna barge into here, my mom...left and my dad works nights."
I paused for a minute and pondered a way to end the awkward silence, "What if people find out?"
"It doesn't matter."
"But, I moved to escape bullies."
"I know."
"So, I don't want to deal with that again."
"You wouldn't go through it alone this time."
She walked behind me and gave me a warm embrace. I liked the way her chin sat on my shoulder because of the slight height advantage she had.
"Wanna stay here tonight? We could have a slumber party."
Her words tickled my cheek since she spoke so close. I nodded, not caring I had absolutely nothing I needed and it was a weeknight.
