Ezekiel wanders further down his street. seeing blood splatters and a few chunks of meat scattered about on the ground. but he tried his best not to notice it. Just to perceive it as something normal. like how it was before the retched day came. before it all when downhill for the teen. He kept walking and walking. starving cats and tiny dogs were trapped in the chain fences that once kept them safe from stray animals and coyotes. but not anymore. The owners of some animals were outside on the lawn. Scratching away and ripping bits of muscle and flesh coated in fur. the dying whimpers and whines of the pets just added further to the breaking of Ezekiel's fragile mind. he didn't enjoy these sights, or these smells, but he still prevailed and ignored it as best as he could. perceiving life as normal.

Then he got home... seeing the smoke rising from his destroyed and ruined home was enough to send the boy into tears. trying to grasp the fact that his home was destroyed. only certain parts were left alone. his white bedroom was now a mixture of blacks and greys. Ezekiel felt like falling to the ground right then and there. But he didn't. he kept going on towards the porch. he saw the corpse of the first walker attack. Ezekiel let out a deep sigh and opened the door of his house.

Slowly, Ezekiel took steps into the house and looked around. the living room was no longer white walled. it didn't even have its orange shag carpet anymore. it was just gone. turned to nothing but ash and black soot. The troubled teen softly smiled as he remembered how he would come home from school and see the nice house still here for him. He walked further into the house. looking at the kitchen which was still standing. there was partially some roof left to cover it. Ezekiel looked down the hallway and saw nothing but empty rooms. the walls that separated the rooms were gone. Just pieces of wood from the structure of the house remained.

Soon Ezekiel walked into his bedroom and looked around. All of his clothes, All of his belongings. just gone. there were ruined blankets and a pillow resting on top of his blackened bed. Ezekiel hated the sight and his legs felt like they were going to collapse underneath him. so he took a seat on the edge of his bed. the springs creaked and groaned under the weight but he didn't care. Ezekiel even turned to the side and laid across his bed. Thats when he started to cry. softly at first but it slowly got harsher and rougher. His soft whimpers and whines became wails and screams. Eventually making him pass out.

Hours later: Ezekiel awoke to the sound of birds chirping loudly on the edge of his destroyed roof. The birds seemed to mock Ezekiel but he payed no attention. he just groaned and got up. going to the bathroom to do his usual "before school workout." Consisting of taking a piss and leaving the ruined bathroom. there was only half a toilet, looking like it was smashed. Ezekiel then walked onto the kitchen and roamed the cabinets and fridge for something to eat. he found nothing within them. just dust. everything was cleaned out.

Zeke: Mom! I thought I said we needed more food!

Ezekiel then suddenly realized that his mother wasn't even there, none the less in the same town.

Zeke: oh... right, forgot you had to go take care of grandma. well, guess ill take a trip after school.

Ezekiel walked back to his bedroom and grabbed his black backpack that rested the ground. it was partially untouched and completely emptied out of its contents. the school work and books he had were all around him, burnt up with the fire that consumed his house.

Zeke: i hope the teacher accepts chewed on homework. fucking dogs...

Ezekiel didn't even realize but his own dogs were in the backyard. dead from starvation. The teen didn't even have time to continue thinking about it as the purring engine of a familiar SUV was outside. Ezekiel looked out of the gaping hole in his wall to see the SUV pull up in the yard. both doors opened up and Ezekiel knew now to get down and lay on the ground before he was seen.
