We drove in silence and drank our hot chocolates, I was finally starting to warm up a bit, and this hot chocolate was delicious. I looked out the window, I couldn't help but smile a little, the weather was horrible, and only 45 minutes back I was sitting in that, now I was sitting in a car with my hero. I took another sip of my drink and sat back in my seat as Jack decided to break the silence.
"We've got quite a long drive ahead of us, 3 hours maybe?" He sounded kinda tired.
"Yeah, that's okay, better staying out in that weather, I really am grateful you know."
"I know you are Kayleigh, I can tell."
I grinned at him, as he scratched the back of his head, he looked a bit uncomfortable.
"Do you want to tell me what happened with your parents? I mean you don't have to talk about it if you don't want.." He smiled awkwardly.
"No, it's fine, I guess you deserve to know, since you're being my saviour."
I explained to him everything that had happened that day, he didn't saying anything, he just listened and nodded every so often to show he was still with me, it felt so good to have someone finally listening to me for once. Mum never did, she just assumed things and shouted, she hardly ever heard me out. I felt my eyes brimming with tears, I never realised how much all this actually upset me. Jack looked over and squeezed my shoulder.
"Don't cry Kayleigh" He sounded genuinely sympathectic, "I don't know what I can do to help yet, but i'll figure something out for you"
I wiped my eyes and attempted a smile, after a few moments Jack broke the silence again;
"Didn't your dad have anything to say about all of this?"
I felt my heart start to beat faster and my stomach filled with butterflies. "Just speak about it Kayleigh, it'll make you feel better" I told myself.
"I don't have my dad anymore."
"What? Do you mean-"
"He died when I was 12, he was serving his time in the army, he was shot in chest a week before he was due to come home. Nothing has ever been the same." I didn't cry this time, I just felt numb. I heard Jack take in his breath.
"Shit man, I am so sorry, god bless him."
I leaned back in the seat and closed my eyes, I felt a wave of relaxation wash over me as my body slumped.
"Hey Jack, is it okay if I take 5?" I mumbled.
"Of course it is, take as long as you need."
JACKS POV;
I watched as Kayleigh made herself comfortable in the seat besides me, she was asleep in minutes. The poor girl must of been so tired, she'd had a rough day. I was pretty tired actually, but I was so glad that I'd found Kayleigh, she was beautiful, & I had a feeling her personality was going to be great as well. I was lost in my thoughts as my phone suddenly started ringing "I GOT YOUR PICTURE I'M COMING WITH YOU DEAR MARIA COUNT ME INNNNNN" Shit, I really need to change that, then I checked that the loudness of it hadn't disturbed Kayleigh, I smiled, she hadn't stirred a bit. I answered the phone to Alexs insalts;
"WANKERRRRR" he laughed.
"What do you want shit stain?"
"What do I want? Hm, such an interesting question Baratwat."
"I'm hanging up.."
"NO NO NO, WAIT"
I laughed, good old Alex.
"What is it then?" I asked, trying to sound impatient
"Where is the last of my hairspray? OH WAIT, I CAN TELL YOU THAT, IN YOUR HAIR."
"Awh don't cry, Alexanderpoo."
"I'm going to break your legs, Jack, I swear it."
"By the way, we have a house guest for a while."
"Oh dear, not another stray cat" He started laughing uncontrollably.
"ahahhaha- no. Actually, her name's Kayleigh."
"Kayleigh?"
"I kind of found her on the street.."
"OH GOD JACK, NOT A PROSTITUTE."
"NO! Her mum kicked her out"
"So you just decided to bring her home with you?"
"No, yes.. no. Look Alex we'll talk when I get back."
"If you ever get back, If your crazy prostitute doesn't kill you."
"Bye Alex."
"Bye fat fuck."
I hung up and giggled to myself, top banter with my boy, he'll love Kayleigh though I know he will.
KAYLEIGHS POV;
I must of been asleep for ages because I woke once again to gentle pokes in my ribs.
"Hey sleepyhead, we're home" I opened my eyes and saw Jacks big smiling face above mine.
"Home?" It took a while to register what was going on. "Oh, I'm at YOUR house!" I grinned.
Jack laughed, "Hey, hey, it's OUR house for now."
I reached round to the back seats to get my bags but Jack stopped me.
"No, leave them here for now, I'll bring them in later for you."
So I got out the car and faced a huge white house, I recognised it immdeiantly, It was the one I'd seen so many times in magazines and videos. Suddenly I realised, Alex and Jack live together.. this was all to surreal.
"W-will Alex be there?" I stuttered. Jack grinned.
"Yup, he can't wait to meet you, I spoke to him while you were sleeping."
"Oh my god, I bet I look a mess as well.." Jack bit his lip, god that was hot.
"No you look lovely, that panda eye look proper suits you."
I gasped, holy shit, I need makeup wipes.
"Hey, hey I'm joking buddy! You look lovely."
I wiped my eyes anyway and followed Jack inside. The house was beautiful, Just how I'd imagined it, messy, but still some how tidy. I stood on the front mat and took my converse off and slowly tip toed my way over the soft cream carpet still following Jack.
He stopped in front of a big white washed door.
"You hungry bud?" He seemed so much more at ease now he was home.
I shook my head, "Not really, but thank you."
"You sure? You can go sit in there while I go get me & Alex some noodles then." & He went off down the hall humming to himself.
Carefully I pushed over the door and peaked around, the room was huge, with these beautiful looking velvet sofas. On one of the sofas was Alex, sprawled across with this hands behind his head. He looked up when he sensed me in standing in the door way.
"You must be the lovely Kayleigh." He sat up and patted the spot next to him. "Come sit and tell me this story of how Jack saved you from the street then." He smiled and I giggled and sat next to him and told him everything that had happened that day.
