Chapter 10
Zara woke with a slight headache; nothing serious enough to be hangover worthy. She was a little saddened to see she hadn't received any messages from her baby. It was 6 am and she hadn't felt like doing anything at all. Spending the day alone was what Zara did before Melanie and she never felt lonely. Now that Melanie wasn't in Zara's favor she felt lonelier than ever. Zara's stretched her body and cracked a few knuckles. She got up and did her morning routine. After, she threw on some jogging clothes and downed a glass of milk.
She headed outside to start her morning run while she plugged in her music.
Half an hour later she was through. She ran a little longer than usual to blow some steam. She felt absolutely at fault for Melanie being upset with her. She was already being a horrible girlfriend. She hadn't called her or texted since the day before. She even allowed her to leave. She should've comforted her until she gave in and was happy again. She just let her go.
She had to make it right. She couldn't let this hiatus last long. She walked herself into a flower boutique with all her sweaty glory. Zara remembered Melanie telling her that her favorite flower was tiger weed. She had said it was her favorite because it was too beautiful to be considered something people would rather not have, an outcast.
Zara smiled to herself when she found some. She was surprised to see a weed in a flower boutiques inventory. It was an orange, multi-peddled flower with a long green stem and green antenna thingy's with yellow bulbs in the middle of it.
She paid for the flowers and went back to her apartment to clean up and change. She sat on the corner of her bed and dialed Melanie's number. The phone continued to rung until voicemail picked up. She sighed, hung up, and dialed two more times.
When she still couldn't get an answer she thought of another way to go about things. She couldn't go to her house because she hadn't known where she lived. She didn't know where she worked. She didn't go to school. She didn't know any of the people she knew.
Zara realized the huge barrier that stood between them. She even considered if the same barrier would exist if they were the same complexion. She shook away those negative thoughts. Her father was starting to get into her mind. She knew things about Melanie as a person but not about her personal life. She only knew what she had begun to tell her. She would make a mental note to find out more in the future.
She had to resort to her last option; her only option. She knew there was a fifty percent chance that this idea wouldn't work because it involved her father. Her father knew people who could track people. He could help Zara find Melanie's address so she could make things alright.
She had to be prepared just in case things worked in her favor. She made one last stop at a cheesecake factory downtown because she knew her princess loved chocolate cheesecake.
She got into the factory looking around at the extensive interior. She fell in line to order.
Once she was up, she ordered a slice of the chocolate cheesecake. As she was paying she caught sight of a beautiful light haired brown skin and toned legs. She stuck her neck past the cashier to see in the back past the counter.
