Had the storm subsided? To much astonishment, all that was left was a heavy layer of moist heat in the air, an enchanting mist floating around like the memories that hung around this night. Heels scratching the soaked granite, buckling in the cracks of the sidewalks as you were once again fleeing reconciliation. The sheer warmth of the air didn't help this conquest as your now dripping, stripped blouse stuck not only from the pellets of rain that bound it to your skin, but the bubbling layer of sweat that now now formed a sheen.

To everyone else, you must have looked like a drunken, crazed office worker, trying to swallow your fears through a bottle. Your running had turned into a drowsy stumble and the night was not so young for your sleep schedule. Your flickering tiresome vision finally picked a familiar attraction. The rose garden you always seem to long for, when passing by it in the carpool to work. It's bright fuchsia and burgundy palette, livening your senses. You began to cross the sidewalk, unaware of the cars racing around you, the dark scenery was lit by darting headlights.

You had finally reached the stoned walkway, rich green bushes towering around you. You noticed the marbled, flushing fountain upon your direction, white and rose flower trimmed trellises reaching over the top of the area. Taking a deep breath, you perched yourself upon one of the benches dotted around the centrepiece. Sliding your ratted bag off my your shoulder, it was gaping open and soaked right through, how could you have been so stupid? Dragging your knotted ball of hair away from your sunken face, you fumbled about for your phone, unsure if it could have survived.

No luck. The phone was missing, there was no chance in contacting anyone and your mood couldn't sink any further. You swivelled your sore vessel onto the entirety of the bench and stretched out your legs over the arm rest to the end of wooden structure. Fidgeting around until you were somewhat comfortable, the ice-cold weather bit away at your frail frame. Your eyes had finally succumbed to their unfair weight, closing while shivering relentlessly, was this it?

'Crunch.'

The inaudible noise of footsteps, echoed through the ice kissed shrubbery, lacing your restful body. Someone was approaching, and their attempt of taking delicate steps was wasteful.

A tall, grand clothed male stood before your cold figure, bending down to eye length - squatting and taking in your ever so helpless and worn face. He extended his large arms, placing a hand on your shoulder and shook you ever so delicately. You reacted with a small tremor, fidgeting from the introduction of his hand, to him you felt frozen and looked almost blue in colour. Goosebumps fluttering across your skin underneath your blouse from the male's body heat.

He added another shake to your shoulders, more violent and desperate, if you were to be out here any longer, you would definitely pass away. He was in a suit alone and was still shivering, lord knows how it felt for you. Third time lucky it had to be and it wouldn't be nice. He jabbed you right in your side, to which you woke. You winced and wailed in both pain and surprise, your throat hoarse.

"Y-yah what the actual-" you screeched but he shushed you with a finger slapped against your mouth. A small smile slipped between his lips when he saw you saw obviously discontented. He examined your face - your sunken cheeks, faded pale eyes, that were violently blood shot and puffed.

"You're as pale as a ghost! Cmon now, Halloween's past!" He coaxed, letting out a wobbly laugh. You weren't impressed by his deadpan comedy. And with that reaction, your whole body woke to the cold chills of the outdoors once more. Your skin was indeed pale and felt so tight, you could barely move, unease overcoming you. Looking over at the man in front of you who seemed to share the same thoughts as you.
