If you look at what you have in life, you'll always have more

Chapter 32: I miss you

"Hey, its me again. Jordan. You probably already know with the countless times I've been here." He chuckled a bit. "I miss you. You know that? Everyday gets harder without you here. It's not the same. The others wish that they could see you but they only allow family in here. I had to tell them that I was your brother for them to let me in." He chuckled a bit. "It already kills me that I can't hear from you, not being able to see you wasn't a choice."

How long was I out for? I wanted to open my eyes but my body was in complete shut down mode. I had nothing left in me to do something simple as raising my hand or even opening my eyelids.

I felt Jordan take my hand in his giving it a gentle squeeze. He kept it in his hand giving warmth to my cold body. I hated that I couldn't give him a sign to let him know that I was okay, well at least I thought I was.

"I'm so sorry that you ended up here." He began to say. "I promised to protect you but here you are only getting hurt even more. I shouldn't have left you alone or even brought you there. I knew I shouldn't have taken you there but I couldn't say no to you. I wish I could turn back time and change things." He sighed.

"I should've stayed at home and even watch Riverdale with you. Even though I can't tolerate that show. I'd do anything for you. Please come back to me. I promise to do better. I'll do better. Don't leave me just yet. I need you."

What he was saying made me want to forget about my body needing rest and want to wake up to him. The problem with waking up meant facing my problems but I was going to face them either way.

It took a great amount of energy to use my fingers to wrap around his while trying to blink my eyes open. My fingers successfully made a move, holding part of his hand.

"Ray." Jordan moved and I felt him hover over me. My eyes fluttered open but not before attempting several times to open them.

My right eye opened first followed by the other. Everything was blurry at first but I blinked many times before my vision started to clear up. I couldn't fully see as I didn't have my spectacles on. The world still looked pixelated to me.

"You're awake." He said in relief.

From the corner of my eye I noticed the oxygen mask over my nose. Jordan quickly rushed out immediately coming back with a doctor and two nurses. The mask was removed off me as they asked me all sorts of questions related to my health. They checked the bedside monitors, ran tests on my breathing levels, my vitals and the other requirements to make sure I was alright.

When I was unconscious, the ambulance had arrived and rushed me to the hospital. There I flatlined for two minutes before they were able to revive me back. The funny thing was that I didn't at all remember being dead, not seeing the afterlife that everyone talked about. It must be a myth.

Things only started to get worse from there as I slipped into a coma. They were able to stabilise me but I was in ICU for the time being.

When the doctor was done examining me, they let Jordan back in after kicking him out before.

I abruptly wrapped my arms around him before he could even sit on the chair. I buried my face into the crook of his neck. He responded by hugging me tightly not wanting to let go. I felt safe in his arms.

"You're okay. You're okay." He repeated, reassuring himself more than me.

"Jordan, I'm alright. You can stop worrying." I said still resting my head on his shoulder, clutching onto him.
