Jungkook's eyes doubled in size when he was being dragged out of his own dressing room, leaving all his hyungs and involuntarily following Yeri infront of him. He couldn't even think - he was just so surprised and wondering what she was going to say.
After a mere dozen steps, Yeri stopped and let go of his fingers. She turned around to face Jungkook and he gulped, immediately avoiding eye contact and looking straight down to his toes.
'Are you okay?' Yeri said, sounding genuinely worried. Jungkook took a few seconds to reply, still looking down and mumbling an insincere 'Mm..'
The atmosphere was incredibly quiet and awkward. Jungkook's head was still lowered, but he heard some women - most probably staff - and thought about how surprised they'd probably be, seeing him and Yeri out in the open corridor like this.
'W-well...' Yeri sighed, not knowing what to do or say. 'You seem weird?' She muttered quietly, waiting for his response. He briefly looked up for a second and they made eye contact for barely a second before he averted his eyes and looked behind her. 'Maybe it's because I don't know you well but.. you seem different' she continued, staring in to his deep brown eyes.
Jungkook still didn't reply, but started itching the nape of his head, clearly nervous.
'This isn't about Jaehyun is it?' she asked, tilting her head. Jungkook stopped itching and looked in to her eyes, surprised she finally brought him up. 'Aah.. so it is..' Yeri whispered, seeing his sudden reaction. 'Is that why you're ignoring me?' She pestered, wanting him to actually speak.
Jungkook gulped again, clearing his throat. 'He's my friend.' he answered bluntly.
'So?' Yeri said, confused.
'So I shouldn't be talking to his girlfriend.'
Yeri's eyes widened as her mouth hung slightly open. 'What?!' she exclaimed immediately. 'What did you say?' she repeated, doubting her ears.
'Y-you're his girlfriend?' he repeated, confused at her reaction.
'Girlfriend?! Where did you hear that from!' she half-yelled, shocked.
'Jaehyun?'
'Jaehyun... told you I'm his.. girlfriend?' she said slowly, trying to understand the situation herself.
'Y-yeah..?' Jungkook replied, just as confused as Yeri.
'When?'
'On Snapchat, after that selfie he posted of you both...' Jungkook said, remembering the exact very photo clear in his mind.
Yeri fell silent, her eyes furrowed as she started thinking back to that time only a couple days ago.
'I mean.. he showed me your message but.. I just laughed and told him to say we're friends, because that's what we are' Yeri told him, confused as to why Jaehyun would say that. Jungkook casted his eyes down again, still unsure of what was going on.
'So that's why you've been acting like this?' Yeri asked, but with no response. She sighed loudly, 'Jungkook-ssi.' she spoke, causing him to look back in to her eyes. 'Jaehyun and I are just friends. Close friends. That's it.' she confirmed. Jungkook's face somewhat softened hearing her words. 'I mean, it's a shame.. I wanted to be friends but.. this is Red Velvet's goodbye stage so I probably won't see you until the end of year award shows in like 8 months' she said, sounding upset.
