209; Mass Money 12/22
"Everybody get down!" A man walked in with a gun. Everybody hid. He walked up to me and pointed the gun at me. "Open the vault. Now!" I pressed the silent alarm under my desk and headed to the vault. I opened it. Suddenly the sound of police sirens cam really close. The man turned to the others. "Who called the cops?" He started shooting randomly and then his eyes landed on the alarm button under my desk. He turned back to me. "You're a sneaky one aren't you? Just know that it's your fault if someone died tonight." He pointed the gun at me again. "Now, give me the money."
After handing him everything in the vault he pointed at the dead bodies in the room. "You're responsible of their death but you're also responsible of yours." He pointed the gun at my head and pulled the trigger.
I was sitting in my room, preparing my bag for the holidays. It was almost Christmas and then we go to our families. I just stayed the entire holidays at the library or in my room. I pretended to leave and then I'd hide my bag and hide in the library.
Almost everyone left already so I decided to head to the library already. After leaving my room and locking it, I turned around and got surprised by what I saw. Daniel and Nick were standing right in front of me.
"You guys scared me. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on your way to your families?"
"Danny-boy over here told me about your holidays and how you spend them alone."
"Okay. That still doesn't answer my question." I looked at Daniel.
"Nicky over here did some research last night." Daniel grinned at the nickname while Nick held a poker face. "He found a way to help you."
"Help me?"
"I found other people with gifts and powers."
I turned to Nick. "Stop beating around the bush and tell me why you guys are still here."
"We are taking you to a facility." Nick and I turned to Dan. Nick with a rather disappointing look and me with a shocked expression. Nick then turned to me.
"Not that kind of a facility. I contacted someone who has a power too and he told me about this 'group' he's in with people like him. It's based in a hotel in New York and we thought it might be a good idea to go there."
"And it didn't cross your mind to ask me if I wanted to before sacrificing your holiday?"
"We're not asking you anything, you're coming with us whether you want it or not." We both turned to Dan again. The same expressions as earlier on our face.
"What he meant is that we're not sacrificing anything, we don't want you to be alone and helping you with your nightmares and not letting you be alone is like killing two birds with one stone." I pretended to consider it for a while.
"When are we leaving?" Dan and Nick smiled at me. Dan put an arm around my shoulder and Nick grabbed my bag.
"It's funny you ask, dear. We were just about to go to Nick's car."
Dan called shotgun so he and Nick sat at the front while I was alone in the back. I must've fallen asleep because the next thing I know, I woke up in someone's arms. The person carrying me was struggling to open a door. He managed to open the door and I was dropped on a bed. I opened my eyes to be greeted by blue ones looking at me. Nick laughed.
"Go back to sleep, Cam." I looked at my surroundings; I was in an unfamiliar bedroom. There was one bed and a closet. Nick was sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Let me get my stuff first."
"It's already here." He pointed at my bag next to the closet.
"Where is Dan?"
"He needed some air." I yawned, after sleeping for who knows how long, I was still tired. "I'll let you rest now." He stood up and walked to the door.
"I'm scared, Nick." He walked back to my bed.
"You don't want to dream again?" I looked at him and nodded. "You want to talk for a while?" I smiled and nodded again. Nick laughed. "Fine but only if you move a bit and let me lay down too." I moved to make some place. He lied down next to me.
"Wake up, sleepy heads. It's time for breakfast." Dan was standing next to the bed with a smug expression on his face. My head was resting on Nick's chest and his arm was resting around me. I sat up quickly. How did this happen? Nick mumbled something and opened his eyes.
"Good morning." He said with a husky morning voice. I was blushing massively and rushed to the bathroom. I splashed some water in my face and looked in the mirror. Suddenly I felt nauseous and dizzy. I rushed to the toilet and threw up. Someone knocked on my door.
"Are you alright, Cam?" I flushed the toilet, washed my face again and opened the door.
They were both looking at me with worry all written over their faces. "I'm fine but I think I'll just skip breakfast."
"We can just buy some food later and leave now?" Nick proposed.
"Fine, but you're driving." Dan took my hand and my bag and rushed to the car. I had to run to keep up with his fast pace.
"What are you doing Dan? Why the rush?"
"I wanted to talk to you, in private." I sighed.
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Cam, you're my best friend. I saw you sleeping in the arms of your crush and you won't even give me the details. That's so unfair."
"That's because nothing happened worth telling. We talked and we must've fallen asleep like that. That's it. We're just friends, Daniel." I took my diary out of my bag and got in the car. Nick got to the car and was talking to Dan outside.
"Is something wrong, Dan? She looked mad."
"Nothing's wrong. Just get in the car and drive."
They both got in the car, Nick in the driver's seat and Daniel in the passenger's seat.
Nick looked at me in the rear-view mirror with a questioning look. Seeing him made me think about this morning and I averted my gaze immediately. I couldn't think like that now, not when he's being a really good friend and we have to spend a lot of time together the next couple of days.
