213; Walking the wire 07/24

"You can do it! Come on, man!" They were cheering for me. I was about to walk a wire from one building to another. It was a dare I got from my best friend. They had put the rope earlier and now I had to walk it. I took one step. Then another. After a few, I was in the middle. I heard the people still cheering for me. I had almost reached the other side when I lost my balance. I managed to grab the rope and was hanging 200ft above the ground. I was screaming for help and the cheering had stopped. I tried getting back on the wire but I failed. I started losing grip with one hand and I had to let go. I still had one hand left but not for long. I started losing grip with that one too. I let go.

Today was the day of my checkup in the research center. I should be nervous but I couldn't stop thinking about what happened in the elevator yesterday with Cody. He kissed me. He kissed me. I was walking to the cafeteria for lunch with Dan now. We grabbed some lunch and sat down at our table. Nick, Stella and Cody were already sitting there. I sat next to Cody. He smiled at that but remained silent.

"I heard you're going to the research center today." Nick said. I looked up at him. "I could come with you if you want."

"It's fine, I'll be alright." He probably has other stuff to do and someone's going to escort me anyway. I wonder if Cody will escort me. Maybe we even have to use the elevator again. I shook my head slightly. I need to get these thoughts out of my head but I just can't stop thinking about it.

'I can't stop thinking about it either.' I looked around me. Everyone was just eating there food in silence. I must've imagined that. Cody chuckled. That idiot. 'That's not nice, I'm not an idiot.'

'I didn't know you could do this too.' I thought.

'I want to kiss you again if that's okay with you.' I saw him looking down at his plate, blushing. I chuckled, a bit louder than I meant to.

Nick looked at me. "What's so funny?"

"Oh, euhm, it's just that we're never this quiet." I started blushing too.

"And that's funny because?"

I mumbled a quiet 'I don't know' before I continued eating.

After lunch, I got to my room and got ready for the checkup. They gave me a suit this morning, which was really tight but comfortable. Someone knocked on my door and I opened it. It was Cody.

He was checking me out and I blushed. "You look really sexy."

"It's nice to know you can still speak without invading my thoughts." I said.

He grinned. "I'm actually here to escort you." I got out of the room and followed him to the elevator. When we got in, everything just reminded me of what happened yesterday. The doors closed and he took a step closer. "I would like to kiss you again."

"Then what are you waiting for?" I grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him closer to me. His lips touched mine gently before everything intensified. Being with him felt so right. I didn't have to worry about anything; it was just me and him in the moment.

He pulled back a little. "I think it's better if we stop right now before we can't anymore."

I nodded. He took a step back again and we waited for the elevator to stop. We were going to one of the top floors. When we reached our floor he escorted me to a glass door. Before going in he turned to me.

"Are you sure you don't want any company?"

"Yeah, I'm sure." I said confidently.

"As you wish." He started walking away and I turned around to go through the door. I was about to open it when I felt Cody spinning me around and placing a chaste kiss on my lips.

"You just read my mind." I whispered.

"That's what I do, baby." He whispered back before walking away for real this time.

I pushed the glass door open and walked in. The room was empty. It had white walls, a white floor and there were two chairs in the middle. The room was made of some kind of foam. Brandon walked in after me.

"Take a seat Cam." He walked over to one of the chairs and took a seat himself. I followed him and took a seat. "Today we're just going to talk about these visions of yours. What do you see?"

"I see how they die."

"I'm going to need more details." He grabbed some paper out of his pocket.

"I see their faces. I know what they feel, what they think. I always know the date, sometimes even the hour. What else is there to say?" While I was talking, he wrote everything down.

"How does it work? Do you have a dream every night?"

"No, sometimes I don't dream. I go to sleep and it all starts with me walking through a tunnel and I end up at some situation as the person who's going to die."

"Okay, we're done here." He put the page back in his pocket.

"This was it?" I said in surprise.

"Yes, I have enough information to assemble training."

Training?" I looked at him getting out of the chair and walking towards the door.

"I'm going to learn you how to control your visions, Cam." He opened the door and left me alone in the room.

How was I supposed to control my visions? How can you learn to control your dreams? I stood up and got out of the room. Outside Cody was waiting for me. He was leaning against the wall casually but when he saw me he walked to me.

"Hey beautiful, How was your checkup?" He grabbed both my hands.

"Honestly? I don't know how it went. It was really short."

"Isn't that amazing? Now I can ask you out."

"As in a date?"

"Only if you want to." He looked at me pleadingly.

"I'd love to." I said. He pulled me closer and kissed me. I'm never getting tired of this. He pulled back.

"I'm glad you enjoy kissing me that much."

"You should really stop reading my mind. It's unfair."

"No, it's not!" He put his arm around my shoulder and we walked to the elevator.

"Yes it is! You can read my mind but I have no idea what you're thinking, it's unfair." I pouted. We were in the elevator and the doors closed.

"I'll tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about the most amazing person I've ever met and how I'm taking her out on a date. Oh, and about how she's an amazing kisser." He winked.

We stopped at my floor and I got out of the elevator.

"I'll pick you up at six." He said before the doors closed.

I walked to my room with a big smile etched on my face. I turned around the corner and saw Nick knocking on my door.

"What are you doing here?" I said, which scared him a bit.

"I was wondering if we could talk maybe."

"I actually have to get ready but maybe tomorrow?"

"Oh, do you have another checkup?" He looked at me with a serious expression.

"No, I don't actually. I'm going on a date." I said; smiling.

"Oh, a date." He still looked at me with this serious face. The smile on mine disappeared and turned into a confused expression.

"Is something wrong?" I was genuinely worried about him. He has mood swings all the time but this was just strange.

"No. As long as you're happy, I'm happy." He smiled. I'm not an expert but I know that smile was as fake as it could be. He used to do them a lot at school, I thought that was over but apparently not.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow?"

"No, it's fine. I'll leave you alone now." He walked off.

I opened my door and started to get ready.
