205; knock knock...                                    04/05/2018

As always, I arrived at my house. I took the key out of my bag and opened the old, oak door. As I entered, I noticed nobody was there. My husband and my daughter had both disappeared. The halls were dark, the rooms were empty and the silence was killing me. Until I heard 1....2....3 knocks on the basement door. I walked to the door, opened it and everything went black. I fell down the stairs and the door closed behind me. Creeped out as I was, I ran to the door trying to open it. It was locked. I started screaming, in the hope, someone would hear me. Until I felt two hands grabbing my neck, lifting me from the ground and throwing me downstairs. The lights went on. I saw blood, everywhere I looked. I saw my daughter Amanda, lying on the ground in a puddle of blood. As I took a closer look, I saw wounds from a dagger, all over her body. I started crying, my daughter was dead. I heard a sound behind me. I took the dagger, resting next to Amanda's body, to defend myself. But I wasn't fast enough...

"Are you writing again, Cam?" I looked at the boy standing in the door opening. It was Daniel, my best (and only) friend. I shut my diary. "Is it one of your fantasies about the man, the myth, the legend, Nicholas Bright?"

I met Daniel a year ago at my first day of school. He was the only person to talk to me. He's quite a goof but I don't know what I'd do without him.

"No, it's just something I dreamed about."

"Was the dream about Nick?"

The guy he's talking about, Nicholas (or Nick for his friends), is the guy I've been crushing on for the past year. He's the typical captain of the football team: handsome, social, popular and he's dating the head cheerleader.

He walked over to me and snatched the diary out of my hands. After reading the story he gave it back.

"You dream about this stuff?"

I never told about him about the nightmares, I didn't want to lose my only friend because of some weird dreams. He'll probably think I'm weird.

"Yeah, but I spice it up a little." We both laughed.

"Hey Daniel, are hanging out with that freak again?" Nick was standing in the doorway now, arms crossed, showing his beautiful biceps. He had blue eyes and sand colored hair. He looked at me and nodded. "No offence Courtney." It's Cameron. He walked in, grabbed Daniel and pulled him out of my room. Daniel looked at me with an apologetic smile.

I think I forgot to mention that the 'oh so perfect Nicholas Bright' is a complete and utter jerk!

After a few boring classes it was lunch. I was walking to the cafeteria when I bumped into someone. I fell to the ground and looked up. Just my luck, I bumped into Nick.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled while standing up and getting ready to escape to the cafeteria.

"Look out where you're going next time, nerd." Standing next to him, the owner of the annoying high-pitched voice, was his girlfriend, Carly. She was as fake as they would get.

This time it was Nick who gave me an apologetic smile. I nodded and got to the cafeteria to get my food. I gave up eating in the cafeteria itself, it always ended in me being covered in a variety of meals. I took my lunch and headed to my room.

As I got there I started to look for my diary. I still needed to finish my story.

Two years ago my parents died in a car accident. I spent a few months in foster homes until someone decided to adopt me. My new parents send me to a boarding school because I was...troubled.

Since my parents death I've been getting strange dreams about people dying. I see the exact moment of their death. I know what they felt, what they knew and even what they looked like. The people I dream about are all complete strangers to me. I often see a clock or a calendar in the dream or sometimes I just know what hour and day it is. It's strange but it happens. I started writing it all down, every detail. I make sketches of what they look like. One day my 'parents' found out and sent me away.

I searched everywhere: in my backpack, in the hallway, in my room but I couldn't find my diary anywhere. If someone would find out, it'd be the death of me. They already think I'm weird.

I brought my empty plate back to the cafeteria after lunch and headed to some more boring classes.

After the three remaining hours of torture I went to see Dan in the library.

I arrived early and decided to do some research for my English class. I got distracted by the sound of two people arguing. Suddenly Nick stormed into the library, an angry expression etched on his face. I never saw him this angry before, usually he was all jokes and fake smiles. He saw me staring at him and I averted my gaze.

"What are you looking at? Don't you have anything better to do?"

"I'm sorry." My eyes were glued to the computer screen.

"Is that all you can say. Every time I say something to you, your answer is that stupid line." This time I got really irritated. I might have a big crush on him, I won't let him walk all over me. I looked at him again, my expression mirroring his.

"I'm sorry Nicholas. Not everyone's as perfect as you and your little girlfriend."

"My little ex-girlfriend." The anger in his voice faded and he seemed relaxed now, or maybe sad. Reading expressions and emotions isn't really my gift.

He looked at me one last time before turning around and walking towards the exit. "I'll see you later, Cameron." On his way out he crossed Daniel's path.

Dan walked up to me with a shocked expression on his face. "Was that lover boy Nick?!"

"Stop it Dan. It's never going to happen." He took a seat next to me.

"So Cammie, something wrong? You seem a little on edge."

"I looked everywhere and I still can't find it. I looked in my room, in the hallway even in the cafeteria. Someone must've stolen it."

"Calm down. What's wrong?" I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down.

"My diary, Dan. It's gone."

A/N

I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. Feel free to vote and comment! ;-)

I know I put this story in 'Mystery/Thriller' and it is about powers (paranormal) and mystery but it also contains a lot of romance; so if you're not into that, I recommend you to read something else.

For those who don't mind the romance

Have fun ;-)
