210; Burning bridges 03/25
I was angry. The girl I love...she's in danger. I have to find her. I jumped in my car and started driving. I couldn't be fast enough. If I'm not going to save her, then who will? I kept thinking of her. We broke up, but I still love her. And I'll always love her. I was stupid. I drove too fast. I wasn't thinking straight. I heard a strange sound. I slipped and collided with something before everything went black.
I woke up later. The car was upside-down and I was trapped. I was covered in blood and surrounded by fire. The next thing I know, there's a loud explosion and everything went black again, only this time I didn't wake up.
I woke up screaming. I looked around me and I was again in an unfamiliar room. I got out of bed and rushed to my bag to find my diary. I wrote the story down so I wouldn't forget and started sketching. Someone barged into my room.
"Are you okay, Cammie-bear. I heard you scream and came as fast as possible." Dan was standing next to my bed, covered in sweat. I was shaking while I tried sketching the man in my dreams. Dan walked to me, until he was standing behind me and looked over my shoulder. "Is that...?" He leaned in further and gasped. I was done sketching and a tear fell on the paper. One of my tears. "That's impossible. Please tell me you're joking."
I looked at him, tears rushing down my face. He sat down next to me on the bed and hugged me.
"Shh, everything will be fine. We don't know if they all come true."
"But what if they do?"
"Then we can try to stop it."
"Try to stop what? Death? It's impossible, Daniel!"
"We can always try. But, euhm, how will it happen?" I gave him the diary. He let me go and started reading. "We still have time."
"We have three months. How are we going to cheat death in three months?"
"We'll figure something out." He hugged me again. "Now go back to sleep."
"I can't, Dan."
"I'll stay with you." We lied down, me still in his arms and I closed my eyes.
I woke up in Dan's arms. He was already awake. "Good morning."
He looked at me with his brown eyes. "Good morning, Cam."
We got up and headed downstairs for breakfast. I almost forget what happened earlier and I tried not to think about it but it was really hard not to. We walked to the hotel restaurant and saw Nick sitting at one of the tables, waiting for us. We sat down; me next to Dan, Nick on the other side.
"I'm going to get some breakfast, do you want anything?" Dan asked me.
"I'm not really hungry."
"You should eat, Cameron." He gave me an icy stare.
"Some cereal would be nice." Dan walked away to the buffet.
"Is everything alright? You seem a little bit off. Does it have anything to do with yesterday in the car?" I looked at Nick; his hair disheveled, wearing just a white T-shirt and sweatpants. He looked amazing.
"Everything's fine." I looked at the buffet where Dan was standing. He looked back at me and nodded. I looked back at Nick. Suddenly I felt really bad. "I'll be in the car." I stood up and walked to the hall. Nick followed me and grabbed my wrist. I felt it burn and withdrew my hand. I looked at my wrist but there was nothing. No burns, no bruises, nothing.
"What's wrong, Cam. You're hiding something from me."
"I'm not hiding anything. I just don't feel well."
Dan came out of the restaurant and saw us. Nick grabbed my wrist again when I tried to walk away.
"What's going on here?" Dan asked. Nick turned to Dan, still holding me.
"I don't know. You tell me." I looked at Nick and then at Daniel.
I started feeling dizzy. I tried pulling away from Nick's grip and he finally let go. I stumbled back. Dan walked over to me and over his shoulder I saw Nick just staring at us. My head felt like exploding and my vision turned black.
I woke up in the car. My head was resting on Dan's lap. Nick was looking at us in the rear-view mirror. I tried sitting up straight but my head hurt. Dan put a hand on my forehead.
"What happened?"
"You fainted." Nick responded dryly.
"I'm sorry." We drove in silence with just the songs on the radio to fill it.
We arrived at the last stop before New York. One more night and we'd be at the 'facility'. We got out of the car and checked into the hotel. I felt really guilty about Nick paying for this trip.
"I'm not feeling well, guys. I'm going to my room." Dan said while walking off.
Nick and I were hanging out in the lobby.
"I get it if you don't want to talk about, but if it's something I should know, you should tell me." Nick suddenly said. I looked at him.
"You're right. You have the right to know but I didn't want you to worry." I started to go through my bag. "Yesterday I dreamed about something. I couldn't believe it. I mean; it was the first time it was someone I know." I found the diary and looked for the page with the sketch. When I found the page I looked at my drawing. I handed the diary to Nick. He looked at me before looking at the drawing.
"Please tell me this is a joke. This can't be happening." He turned the page to read the story. "We can stop this right." He looked back at me.
"I don't know, and even if we could, I wouldn't know how." It was silent for a minute.
"Can you tell me?" He closed the diary and handed it back to me.
"Tell you what exactly?" I looked at him and he was still calm, as if he didn't just read the story.
"Tell me everything you saw in your dream, please." He was looking at me with so much hope.
"Everything I saw is in the diary."
"Maybe you forgot something. I don't know. Just please tell me everything you saw." He looked down at his lap before continuing. "Please, tell me how I die."
