That afternoon, I turned into a fox for the first time since June and wandered around outside, not being noticed. I was looking around for my sister, wondering where she could be when I spotted her sitting down in the grass talking with a few other Gryffindor first years, talking. I walked over. I know I shouldn't be eavesdropping, but I'm very curious and she is my sister

"I just don't know what to do," she says miserably to the two other girls. "Ever since I've gotten here, everyone keeps talking about how Slytherin is awful and they're all mean, but that just conflicts with how I know my sister to be."

"Your sister's a Slytherin?" One of the girls says,

"Yeah," Kitty says, "And she loves me. Plus she's friends with three other Gryffindors."

"Maybe she's just pretending?" the second girl states, "And using the three other guys to her advantage."

I scowl the most I can scowl as a fox.

"No, she's not like that." Kitty says, "She's very protective and funny. She uses sarcasm all the time and she's awesome."

"I'm just saying maybe you shouldn't trust her." the second girl says.

"I'm just upset she hasn't come to see me yet," Kitty says.

Feeling sad, I jump up onto her lap and lay down.

"Is that... a fox?" The first girl asks.

"I didn't know that there were foxes here," the second girl says.

"Me either..." Kitty trails off, "Hey, could you guys leave me alone for a moment?"

The girls leave and I turn into a human again, sitting next to Kitty.

"How long were you listening?" Kitty asks.

"Depends on how long you've been talking, I've only been here for a minute or two," I tell her.

"I kept expecting my first day here to be awesome. But it really isn't. That and I keep hearing that our houses are enemies." Kitty says,

"That sounds a bit like my first day." I smile, "I had already befriended Harry and Ron on the train and everyone kept telling me that we have to enemies, but I thought they were good people, so we continued to be good friends." I look at Kitty, staring up at me intently, "And anyway, I was terrified mum and dad would disown me for being in Slytherin."

"Really?" Kitty asks,

"Yeah," I chuckle, "Especially since I overheard mum talking about how much she hates my house."

"Well, I wouldn't let them," Kitty says

"And anyway, I don't care that you're a Gryffindor. It doesn't make you any different. You've just been sorted with other people like you."

Kitty smiles, "So how was your first day?"

"Well, I had Divination, where you learn to predict the future-"

"No way!!" Kitty interrupts,

"Yeah. Um, but what I predicted was that a good friend and I are going to get in a fight, and I'm going to lose and suffer while she becomes happy because her wish came true."

Kitty frowns, "That's not very cheerful."

"Well, I suppose life isn't always cheerful." I sigh

"Like those dementors..." Kitty trails off

"Yeah..." I say, "So, how was your first day?"

"Pretty good. I've been trying to get some friends, but so far I've only got Rowena and Leta. They're who I was talking with before."

"I don't really like them much," I state.

"Me either." Kitty shrugs.

"Well, dinner's probably waiting." I say, getting up, "Coming?"

Kitty grins, "sure."

At dinner, I discovered that apparently in Care of Magical Creatures, Malfoy had gotten attacked by something called a Hippogriff. I made a mental note to visit the hospital wing the next day. I ate a quick meal of some amazing brots and then glanced at Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked into the Great Hall. I pulled out some paper a scribbled down:

Meet me in front of the Whomping Willow after you eat

-Aran

Folded it into a paper airplane, and flew it over where it hit Harry in the back of his head. He looked back at me and gave a thumbs up.

I watched as the trio made their way down from the castle to where I stood.

"What's going on?" Harry asked

"It's my sister, Kitty." I tell him, "she got sorted into Gryffindor and I was wondering it you guys could keep an eye on her for me. I just don't want her to get hurt."

"Okay," Hermione said,

"Why are you asking?" Ron asks,

"I think she's struggling a bit with the houses. Especially since we're in rival houses." I say.

"Yeah, I'll look out," Hermione says.

"Oh, and what happened at Care of Magical Creatures today?" I ask, "I heard Malfoy got attacked."

"Malfoy's trying to get Hagrid fired," Harry says.

"Really?" I scoff

"I was thinking about going to Hagrid's," Harry admits.

"You should go." I smile. "Well, see ya." I turn into a fox and dash off.
