It took 3 months later for Fiona to feel the most agonizing pain she ever felt in her life. Of course, she was shot in the shoulder before and many other injuries that she harbored on her body doing the job- but she never felt any pain like this before.

While Carmela and Connie were in the room with her, along with the doctor, Michael was kicked out of the room to wait outside. The man was never this nervous in his life before, his palms were sweaty, his leg was restless and his eyes barely blinked.

But he couldn't deny the excitement he felt rising in the pit of his stomach.

The grunting and muffled screams of his wife made his heart thump in his ears as he had the urge to barge in the room to hold his wife's hand.

Vito Corleone noticed how jittery his son was, "Michael, Fiona is a strong woman." Michael wished his father's words were comforting, he of course knew his wife is strong, but the words of his father in that moment wasn't helpful.

Defeated, he nodded his head and had the urge to pull a cigarette out of its casing and light it up.

The moment the door clicked, his mother popped out from the room and held something in her arms so dearly and gently, "Michael." Carmela smiled and nodded her head to assure him, "it's a boy."

Vito and Michael were instantly on their feet, glancing down at the wrapped baby with soft smiles on their faces. Michael's hand traveled to the baby's small hand that was poking out of the soft blanket and as he felt the soft and pink hand of his son, his son grabbed his finger. Michael never knew a new born baby would have the might and strength to do so.

He was only glad that Fiona's appetite was larger than life.

Before Carmela could hand over the baby boy to his father, Fiona was screaming again and instantly Michael entered the room and hurried to Fiona's side.

He pushed away her wet hair and wiped her sweaty forehead as he took her hand, "I'm here, Fay. I'm here." He whispered in her ear as she squeezed his hand to death, not letting go even once.

"It's another baby." The doctor with half-moon shaped glasses said to Michael as he, too, in a way, found it a miracle that Fiona was delivering twins.

"W-What?" Fiona said with a loud groan and panted for more air, she felt as if someone was gutting her entire body.

Michael only then realized that, the doctor was wrong when he assumed that Fiona was pregnant with one child, Connie and Sandra's curiosity on why Fiona's belly was larger than theirs when they were pregnant was finally explained.

Connie's eyes landed on her brother with astonishment, the man was smiling ear to ear as he placed a kiss on his wife's forehead. Connie smiled to herself before placing a hand on Sandra's back, whispering, "I think she'll be fine without us here, there's too many people in the room now. Come, we should see how our little boy is doing."

Tom who arrived late, rushed upstairs to see his father, sister and Sandra sat outside, waiting.

"Is she still in labour?" Tom felt slightly out of breath and as if to help, he removed his hat from his head as if to demolish some of its weight on him.

"Oh yes! The boy is adorable!" Connie said, wanting to hold the baby boy in her arms again.

"The boy has been delivered? Why is she still screaming in there?" Tom questioned as he removed his suit.

"There's a second baby." Sandra this time spoke.

In astonishment, Tom's response was to giggle. He was suddenly excited and cheerful at the news. Tom's eyes traveled to his father who was sat quietly on the couch, his father was smiling as he stared off at nothing in particular.

He knew the Don was in an ecstatic state and he didn't want to ruin it for the man, so he sat next to Sandra on the other maroon sofa, "how long has it been?"

"About 30 minutes." Sandra said with a smile and twinkles in her eyes.

Not a moment later, they heard muffled cries of a new born baby- Vito's smile grew wider.

Tom was only glad he reached in time.

Carmela opened the door after awhile for the doctor to leave. And before he left with his nurse, he tipped his hat and congratulated the family with a pleased look etched on his face.

The rest of the family immediately made their way inside only to witness an exhausted but joyful Fiona in bed while Michael sat on the edge of the bed, closing in on her as the two of them held each baby in their arms.

Everyone in the room were in awe as they laid their eyes on the new baby, everyone waiting for their turn to pass them around and hold them.

Vito was the first to hold the babies after their parents, his wife swore to herself that the man had tears in his eyes as his smile never left his face.

"Did you guys finally decide on their names?" Tom asked as he got the chance to hold one of the babies dearly after Carmela and Vito.

"Yes." Fiona said in a chuckle that exposed her exhaustion, she squeezed Michael's hand, indicating to him that he should tell the names as she felt herself drifting away.

Michael's smile, just like his father, never abandoned his face as he spoke, "Gabriel and Evangeline."
