Chapter Two:

Stay Strong

I had fallen asleep in the comfort of Louis' arms after that. The first time I has slept soundly in a while.

That's when my vivid dream began,

taking me back to just eight hours before.

We were at the studio downtown, and the boys were recording for their new album. In the middle of "Remember Me", I got a call from an unknown number in California.

Not knowing who it was, I slipped out the back door into a little ally behind the studio.

The street lights from the highway in front of the studio, being the only light available in the dark ally. The rain was falling days and days before, and only seized minutes before.

"Hello," came a deep, voice from the other side of the phone.

"Hello, who is this?" I asked, not recognizing the mans voice.

"It's Paster John, from California Baptist Church in San Francisco."

I didn't know why this man was calling me. My mom lives there, not me. Not knowing why, and how this man got a hold of me, I continued listening.

"There has," he started, but didn't finish. As if he couldn't speak the words he was about to tell me.

I didn't know what this man was going to tell me. But I had a sense that it wasn't going to be anything good. And I was afraid. He sighed, loud enough for me to hear, not making me feel any better for what he might tell me.

Cars were flying by and honking on the highway, keeping me from being able to hear every word clearly.

"Car wreck."

Is the last thing I heard before letting out a cry, the last thing I felt was the hard, wet ground beneath me, and a pain in my head.

Lying on the ground, I couldn't move. I didn't want to move. I tasted something sour, salty, trickling down my face and realized it was my own tears. Everything in that moment had stopped, the sound of cars speeding past. The voice at the other end of the phone, and the drizzle that fell from the dark sky. My mom was gone and that's all I knew.

The pain has seized as I drifted off into something peaceful. A door opened as I fell unconscious.
