Chapter Eleven:

Ally

"I know."

I whispered back into his ear.

Louis leaned in and put one kiss in the middle of my forehead. I could feel the warmth of his lips as they quickly moved away from me.

He took my head in his hands and whipped the tears that had started to fall, away.

Lou looked into my eyes and nodded, as to say,

"You're okay."

Doctor Andy removed himself from the couch and quickly walked to his desk. He pulled out something.

"This will help you. And explain to you things that would be hard for me to."

He handed me the thick packet.

Andy started moving towards the door of the room.

Louis stood up and grabbed my hand.

Having him there by my side helped me more then he knew.

My mom was gone.

My sister wouldn't talk to me, and I haven't laid eyes on my father in 10 years.

I felt loved when I was with him.

I felt important. Special. Wanted.

All three of us walked out the door, into the hallway. Doctors in the same blue attire scrambled around.

Seeing all of the doctors emotionless faces, made me realize. That all of these doctors, have probably sat in a room with a 19 year old. And told her something that would forever change her life. Over and over again. Seeing the same reaction. Of shock and tears, and confusion.

I heard an older voice.

"Joe dear, have you talked to Ally lately. I haven't heard from her in years."

An older couple was just turning the corner. The man, I think to be named Joe, had his arms firmly around his wife. Supporting her while she tried her hardest to move down the busy hallway.

"Donna, she died three years ago. We went to her funeral dear."

He looked down at his struggling wife.

The women turned to the taller man. Her face expression held disbelief, pain.

"My daughter Ally, Joe. Her?"

I turned away. I couldn't stand to look at the pain on the older women's face. Her daughter was gone. I knew the feeling that lingered in your stomach, when you realize your loved one isn't there. And won't ever be again. I know what it feels like to know that your loved one died before you did.

"We'll be like them someday Laurie."

Louis didn't take his eyes off the hallway in front of us.

I didn't answer.

"No no. I mean, we'll be like that."

He pointed to another old couple. The lady looked lost and confused, while the man by her side held her hand.

"I'll always be there too support you, and help you. Even when your hair turns the grayest gray."

He laughed at his cheesiness.

"MAKE WAY. MOVE."

Out nowhere, through the front doors of the hospital we were about to exit, was a team of doctors.

And a grown women on a stretcher.

Louis jumped out of the way pulling me with him.

The whole front of the hospital was quiet. We watched in shock as she was taken away, out of site.

"My mom."

Came out of my mouth before I knew it.

"What?"

"My mom Louis. They must have done the same thing to her. With all those people watching. Probably the last thing she saw. People. Doctors. But not her own children. And I wasn't there the say goodbye."

I put my head down as tears filled my eyes. I didn't want to cry. That was the only thing that I had been doing for a while now.

I heard Louis' footsteps behind me quickening.

I made it to the passenger seat of the car after Lou. He held the car door open and watched me carefully as I got in, then shut it. A couple seconds later the car shook as he started it.

He knew I needed time to think for myself, he understood.

Sometimes, I think he knows me better then I know myself.

Once we reached our apartment I walked up the stairs in to our bedroom. I threw the packet of 'instructions' on the floor. There, I changed my clothes to sweats and a tank top.

I turned the light off and made my way towards downstairs.

Louis was making his way up, holding an armful of movies. I laughed as one fell out of his arms and down the stairs.

"Which one is first love?" He had that cheeky grin that always spread across his face when he made me laugh.

"Hmm...what's in there?"

I asked as I started walking down the stairs.
