Calvin's First Day
The sound of the wind blowing through my curtains woke me up. I opened my eyes to find Calvin curled up in a ball sleeping next to me. I smiled to myself and slowly crawled out of the bed without waking Calvin up. I then opened my closet door and walked inside to change.
After changing, I walked into the dining room to see Mother sitting at the table drinking coffee.
"Good morning." I sat across from her.
"Good morning, Aurora. How is Calvin doing?" She took a sip of her coffee.
I rested my chin on my hands. "He is sleeping well."
She sipped more coffee. "That's good."
I sat there examining her. "Are you okay?"
She crossed her arms and sat back on her chair. "I don't know what to make for Calvin."
I laughed. That wasn't what I expected. "Why not just ask him? I'm pretty sure anything would be good." I got up and walked into the kitchen. I opened the pantry. "Maybe some chocolate chip pancakes? Hmmm, or maybe some waffles."
"Oh! We can make both!" She jumped out of her chair and ran to me. She reached into the pantry and took out the ingredients.
"Wouldn't that be a lot for just three people?" I laughed nervously.
"You can give the leftovers to your friends, of course!" She giggled as she poured multiple things into a bowl and started mixing.
I smiled. "Alright, you'll do the waffles and I'll do the chocolate pancakes." I took out the bag of mini chocolate chips. "Sound good?"
"Yup!" Mother cheered.
Once everything was done, Mother placed three plates on the counter. Moments later, Calvin walked in rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning, Calvin. Are you hungry?" I washed my hands.
"A little." He yawned.
Mother grinned. "Pancakes or waffles?"
He thought for a moment. "Waffle."
Mother smiled and passed him a plate with a waffle.
"Wow! This looks great!" He grabbed a fork and stuffed his face.
I giggled and sat down with a waffle as well. It took me a long while to finish it. I sighed in content. I then looked at the oven clock.
I stood up. "I better get going." I grabbed my sweater and wrapped it around me.
"Oh, Aurora, grab an umbrella. It's going to rain today." Mother cleaned up the table.
I nodded and walked over to the door to get the umbrella that leaned against the wall.
"Oh, and also... here are the leftovers for your friends." Mother handed me a container filled with pancakes and waffles.
I giggled. "I'm sure they'll love it."
I opened the front door. "Well, I'm off-"
"Wait." Calvin stood up. "Can I come with you?" He looked at me with pleading eyes.
I smiled and patted his head. "Of course." I grasped his hand and walked out. "See you later, Mother!" I waved and closed the door.
We walked a long distance to the shop to find Damien, Michael, and Carlos waiting at the front door.
"How are you, my little angel?" Michael scrutinized me with a smirk on his face.
I glared at him. "If I'm the angel, are you the demon?"
