It was the night of the dinner between friends. For some reason, Hailey was nervous. Her fingertips continuously tapped at the wheel as she drove, the muffled sound of the radio silencing the sound of the rain pattering on the window.

On the other hand, Joe felt confident. He was sitting in his car in the parking lot of the restaurant, smoothing down his khakis with his hands. His brown umbrella was sitting at his feet, ready for it to shield his body and styled hair from the cold, wet rain.

He got the text that she was there, that she had pulled up to the restaurant. A smile formed on his lips immediately, not being able to hold back the joy in his eyes. He spotted her car across the way, and he hopped out of his, opening his umbrella above him.

He rushed over to her, standing outside her door before realizing that seemed creepy to anyone glancing over. Hailey stepped out, her brown hair curled down her back. They smiled at each other, neither one of them speaking as to not ruin the beautiful moment they were having.

The first thing they did was hug; Hailey threw herself into him, wrapping her thin arms around his neck. "Hi," she whispered.

"Hey," he replied. "You're even more beautiful in person," he confessed before realizing it sounded like a pick-up line. His cheeks turned a deep shade of red before Hailey placed her hand on his arm.

"Thank you, Joe," she said. "And I must say, you aren't so bad yourself." She sent him a wink before running a hand through her hair. "Shall we go inside?"

"We shall," he smiled, wrapping an arm around her waist and holding her close under his umbrella.

They got inside, the warm air hitting both of their bodies instantly. Joe closed his umbrella and shook it out, the raindrops hitting the blue carpet of the restaurant.

Joe walked up to the front desk and sent a charming smile to the woman behind it. "Hi, reservation for two under 'Aladdin'," he said. Hailey smiled at the name.

"Right this way," the woman said, tucking two menus under her arm.

"I used to come here with my dad as a kid," Joe said to Hailey as they walked to the table. "It was my favorite place to eat."

"That's sweet," Hailey said. "Paul and I would come every Thursday night before I got the job on The 100."

"Noah and Finn never stop talking about that show," he said. "Noah is obsessed with Raven."

"Good! She's obviously the best," she smiled. They sat down and opened their menus, their eyes scanning up and down to find something to eat.

At the same time, both of them looked up, their eyes meeting. And at that moment, they both knew they had something special.
