She was fiddling with her phone, twisting it between her fingers. Her heart was beating as she thought about what she wanted to do. She wanted to call him.

She wanted to fix things. She knew she had made a mistake, and she hated herself for it. Sure, Joe had been a crazy, jealous boyfriend, but it wasn't enough to give up the love of her life.

Knowing that, she dialed his number, ignoring the butterflies in her stomach that twisted with every ring. She was sure it would go to voicemail, sighing after the 6th ring. However, she was wrong, her breath hitching when she heard his groggy voice over the phone.

"Hello?" He asked, yawning. Hailey mentally yelled, cursing herself for calling him in the middle of the night. She was so stressed that she didn't even realize how fast time had flown by.

"H-hi," she mumbled. "Sorry for waking you up." She instantly heard Joe clear his throat, almost positive he was sitting up in bed.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. Are you okay?" He asked, concern laced in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "And you?"

"I'll be honest, Hailey. I'm not great."

"I-I know, Joe. God, I don't even know what to say," Hailey said, tears threatening to fall. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you away like that."

"Hailey, I was being crazy. I don't blame you. Not even a little bit," Joe said. "You had every right to kick me out, and I know now that Dacre isn't a threat to me. I love you, Hails."

"I love you, too," Hailey chuckled. "So much."

"So we're okay?" He asked. "Please tell me we're okay. I miss you."

"Yes, absolutely," she said, grinning. "Please come over."

"Hails—"

"I know it's late, but I need to see you."

"I was already on my way."
