i'll talk to you soon.-
Joe walked into Hailey's apartment, his eyes droopy like he was tired. She was standing in the foyer, scoffing when he walked through the door.
"Not again, please. I don't want to have this fight again," Joe said. "I had a long day."
"A long day of yelling at Dacre?" Hailey asked, her jaw locked. "You're unbelievable."
"He's in love with you, Hails! How can you be okay with that? Because I'm certainly not," Joe said, throwing his hands up. "I don't get it!"
"He wasn't going to act on it!"
"How do you know?" Joe scoffed. "How?"
"He's one of my best friends, not to mention your best friend. He wouldn't do that," Hailey shook her head. "Joe, I-I think you should go."
"What?" Joe's voice cracked.
"Please, just go," Hailey looked away, her eyes glossy. "I can't do this anymore, Joe."
"Hails—" Joe reached for her arm, but she pulled away. "Hailey."
"Don't make this harder than this has to be," Hailey said in a low voice, looking away. Joe scoffed, his heart sinking, and he left, shutting the door lightly behind him.
Hailey fell to the ground, pulling her knees to her chest, and cried.
