"P-Please stop, I can't take it anymore," Alice begged, her body aching and head on fire as Bumby twisted the contraption around it tighter.
"Just a little more my dear." A small trail of blood trickled down Alice's now shaved head as Dr. Bumby gave it one last turn. Alice cried out but soon the device was removed and she then rested painfully on the table.
"Why?" Alice croaked as Bumby wheeled a cart over to her tableside. He gathered a large syringe that was filled with dark liquid.
"To help you remember your time with me. Alice, you are coming to the end of your life. For centuries we have studied what goes on in those last few moments of a living person's consciousness." He explained as he pushed up the strap and located her nearest vein.
Alice tried to struggle but his cold, clammy hands held firm. She was exhausted, but would not go down without a struggle.
"Think of it this way: out of your entire useless and pathetic life, you were able to at last be of some use to science...and to me." he cooed.
Alice turned away from him and fixed her eyes on the ceiling. Beams that held the regal floors of Hell Hall glared back at her. She had imagined her death before, but it was never in a place like this.
"I thought you wanted me to forget. Forget everything, my family, Wonderland, him," she said softly, tears dripping into her ears.
"I did, however, no one deserves to die without their memories intact," he said calmly as he readied the needle.
"Will it hurt?" Alice was answered by the stinging liquid as it crawled through her veins.
Very quickly, her vision started to cloud as a flood of memories overtook her like a wave on the beach.
Her family, her life before Cruella and then, everything after.
Her time in Wonderland, all those long beautiful nights where she danced the moon out of the sky and floated in the meadows of Wonderland. She rested down on Jefferson's bed and then she was whisked away to her life after.
The asylum, Bumby, the torture she endured. The way Bumby never gave up until she finally let go of Jefferson and forgot every single detail of her Wonderland.
It all attacked her like hail, raining down on all sides until it slowed and paused.
She could see herself, Grace and Jefferson, sitting and laughing in Jefferson's backyard. Dinah whisked her way across the table causing memory Alice to go red and Grace to laugh until tears brimmed her little eyes and then there he was.
The most beautiful eyes in Storybrooke. Once the boy that fell in love with little Alice in the blue dress now falling even deeper into the grown Alice. He was perfect in every sense of the word, damaged to the world but perfect to her.
Everything was perfect, and then darkness. It started in the corners, singeing the edges of the perfect memory until nothing remained but the faint scent of tea. Much like Alice, it was there for a moment, and then, it was gone.
In the basement, Bumby gripped Alice's wrist. Her face and body were bruised and pallid, tears left tracks as her eyes stared off into the dark nothingness of the basement's ceiling. He recorded a few notes, checked once more to ensure she was gone, and he packed up.
Then, much like Alice and all the memories that she carried with her, he was gone, and all that remained was a body, nothing more than a shell.
